The Colonie Knights are happy to announce new additions to the 2009 roster; three big time hitters that will solidify an already strong lineup. First is Eric Joyce who played infield for the Bobcats and was an integral part of their championship run last year. His versatility will be of huge value to the Knights. He is slotted to be filling in all over the diamond. He will also be looking to make a big impact in the lineup. The second hitter already has one MVP, and led the NABA in batting average, 2nd in runs scored, and 3rd in RBIs. Joe Demarco will be catching some of the time, and always in the lineup for the Knights. His impact in the middle of the Knights lineup will be evident throughout the year. Last but not least is Charles Assini. He is a newcomer to our league but plans on making a big impact. He played at Hartwick and is a very fast leadoff-type hitter.
Not to be outdone, the pitching staff has added just as much impact for the coming season. To start things off, the Knights signed Jim Shook. He was the 2008 Cy Young and was almost un-hittable at times. He will look to make a big impact towards the top of the rotation. Not assuming this will be enough, the Knights are also proud to announce the signing of Keith Sweeney and Luis Vegerano. Keith is a deceptive hard throwing righty that played at The College of Saint Rose. He projects as a very solid starter for the Knights. Last but not least is the NYC native Luis Vegerano. He spent some time in the Albany Twilight League and now is looking to come into our league and put up some solid numbers. With these additions to the pitching staff, and the previous two Cy Young award winners going 1-2 in the rotation, will make the Knights a real hard team to pick against for the upcoming season.
