The Albany Black Sox who finished with three league wins in 2008, are making some noise in the off-season through the hot stove. Despite the in-league showing, the Black Sox won a NABA National Championship in impressive fashion at Cooperstown. Coming off the national title, the team has announced three big additions to the 2009 roster.
Middle infielder and leadoff hitter, Tom Praisner is one of the few players in league history to win a league title with two different teams. The Colonie Knights in 2004 and Capitaland Bobcats in 2008. He also won a division title with the Capital District Red Stars in 2005. He is also a former all-star. Praisner played college ball for Schenectady Community College.
Next, 2006 All-Star with the Road Dogs, Guy Prisciandaro was added to the Black Sox roster. He is a veteran infielderthe once played for Dutchess Community College. The Black Sox will be his fourth squad.
Catcher, Bill Berhle, another former Road Dog as well as a former Albany Brewer has also been added. Behrle played for St. Rose.
The only returned announced for the Black Sox is 2007 All-Star Game MVP, Phil Weinman.
