O'Sullivan pitches Hawks into playoffs

Tim O'Sullivan pitched another gem holding Paramus to one earned run over seven innings. The 2-1 win gives Clifton the 8th seed in the NJABL league tournament. The Hawks take on #1 seed Wyckoff tomorrow morning 10:00 AM. in Wyckoff. The Hawks scored both of their runs in the 5th inning when Tom Csigi walked and scored on a bases loaded hit batter and Joe DiGeronimo walked and scored on Mike Picarello's sac fly.

Last chance

Todays final game will be played in Paramus at the Paramus Sports Complex at 6:00 PM. This is a must win situation for us to reach the league playoffs. If the game should be cancelled because of the weather our season is over. Please be prepared to return your uniform tonight if necessary.

Timmy O' most perfect

Tim O'Sullivan was one hit removed from pitching a perfect game at Nash Park last night. O'Sullivan struck out eight Wyckoff batters in route to his fourth win and fifth complete game of the season. Joe Di Geronimo had a RBI base hit in the first inning, followed by Eddie Frias' triple and RBI in the third. Mike Santosuosso led of the sixth with a double to right center and was driven in by Eric Vinciguerra's base hit.

Meier to resume DH duties

After suffering an injury to his shoulder last week in a game against Fairlawn Doug Meier received medical clearance to continue batting. Although not being able to throw for 6 months Meier will resume contributing with his bat and hopes to propel the Hawks into the league playoffs.

Thursday, July 9
Hawks top Paterson 11-1

Mike O'Keeffe pitched his fourth complete game of the season striking out 12 and yielding only three hits on his way to picking up his first win. Marlon Calbi, Doug Meier and Mike Santosuosso had three RBI's a piece.

Tuesday, June 30
Gertner throws 3-0 shutout

Phil Gertner pitched a complete game three hit shutout notching six Ks along the way to beating the Westwood Roughriders 3-0. The Hawks jumped out early scoring two runs on Doug Meiers clutch single to leftfield in the first inning. Clifton added another run in the fourth inning when Eric Vinciguerra's two out single scored Mike Picarello

Monday, June 29
Clifton edges River Edge 5-4

Tim O'Sullivan went the distance striking out 9 and picking up his second win. Clifton came from behind in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring two runs on Doug Meier's double and escaped a bases loaded jam in the top of the seventh.

Tuesday, June 23
Hawks 3 Little Ferry 1

Tim O'Sullivan pitched 6 innings, striking out 4 and yielding only 3 hits for his first NJABL win. The Hawks scored all their runs in the first inning on successive base hits by Tom Csigi, Ed Frias and Zak Rose and scoring on Tim Thompson's ground ball to second and Joe DiGeronimo's 2 RBI single. Little Ferry scored on Patrick Reitmeyer's RBI single.

Hawks vs. Orangeburg rained out

This game is scheduled to be made up Wednesday June 24th, at Nash Park in Clifton, 6:00 PM.

Tuesday, June 9
O'Keeffe goes distance in no decision

Mike O'Keeffe pitched eight innings striking out 9, allowing two hits and no earned runs in his Hawk debut. The Hawks scored their lone run in the third inning when Mike Santosuosso singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on Eddie Frias single to right. O'Keeffe appeared to have pitched out of the only jam he was in all game inducing a Rebel batter to pop up with the bases loaded and two outs in the sixth inning, but a misplay of the ball tied the score at 1-1 for the Rebels. The Hawks battled for two more innings before darkness prevailed and the game ended in a league tie which awards both participants a point in the standings.

Hawks edged by Blue Devils 2-1

Tim O' Sullivan pitched his first game in a Hawk's uniform overcoming some first inning wildness and settling in to go the distance. O'Sullivan struck out six, yielding only four hits and one earned run. The Hawks struck for one run in the fifth inning when Eddie Frias walked and scored on Zak Rose's RBI single to make the score  2-1. A seventh inning rally was squashed by the Blue Devils when Jose Rosado's hard shot up the middle was converted into an inning and game ending double play.

Saturday, May 9
New Additions

The Hawks are pleased to announce the addition of four new players this season who look to make an immediate impact. Hawthorne H.S., Wagner College and Baltimore Oriole farmhand Joe DiGeronimo takes over at short and adds an explosive bat to the top half of the order. Outfielder Tim Thompson a member of last years undefeated state champion Don Bosco Prep team will add speed and depth to the Hawk outfield as well as offensive pop to the lineup. Pitchers Tim O'Sullivan (University of Quinnipiac ) and Mike O'Keeffe (University of Delaware)  also members of last season's state champ Don Bosco team join a staff of proven veterans and add a devastating one two punch.
