Welcome to the web home for the Cleveland Hts Womens Hockey Program

We are an adult women's hockey program that practices and plays at the Cleveland Hts Recreation Center.  We provide beginner instruction as well as challenging league and tournament play for more advanced players.

the POWHA schedule for the Icehawks and Falcons is mostly set - take a look, and we'll get the rest up as it is finalized.

For the 2009-2010 season, we will be fielding the following teams:

Icehawks - a travel team participating in the PA/OH Women's Hockey Organization (POWHA)

Falcons - a POWHA exhibition team - no travel, but will play the POWHA teams that come into town to play the Icehawks (so more folks can play more games!)(thanks Laurie)

Eagles and Raptors and Griffins(?)- participating in the Cleveland area's local league, the Northeast Ohio Women's Hockey Organization (NOWHO) .  These teams will play each other, as well as Mentor, Strongsville and hopefully, the Momsters from Gilmour.

This site provides information (contacts, schedules, rosters, results) for everything going on in the Cleveland Hts Women's Program.  The calendar here has all the games and practices listed.  The 'POWHA' schedule lists all the Icehawks games (both league and exhibition) and games for the Falcons as well.  The 'NOWHO' schedule lists all the games for both the Eagles and Raptors.  When tournament rosters and schedules are available, they will be added under the 'tournaments' division.  Rosters for the Icehawks, Eagles and Raptors can be found by clicking on the team name under 'Teams'.  To look at game scores - please click on 'schedule' and then the appropriate division (NOWHO, POWHA or tournament).  To see the recap/coach's comment, please click on the score of any game.

There's a ton of new stuff happening with the 3rd team, etc, so hang in there and we'll get it all posted ASAP.

To contact us, send email to chwomenshockey@gmail.com with any questions.

NOWHO SEASON OPENER HOCKEY PARTY

Saturday, October 3, 2009

2:30 p.m. at the Mentor Ice Rink

The Northeast Ohio Women’s Hockey Organization will be having its season opener party at the Mentor Ice Rink this year.  Women from all NOWHO teams are invited to come and play two games of hockey, socialize, eat snacks and have a good time to start off this year’s season.

All players from Cleveland Heights, Kent, Mentor, Strongsville and Gilmour will be mixed up and divided into two teams based on skill level so that the teams are equal in strength.  The first pair of games is played at 3:30 and 3:45 p.m. The losing teams of the first set of games play again at 4:45 with the winning teams facing off at 5 p.m.   Beverages, snacks, and pizza will be provided by NOWHO.

Please let your team’s NOWHO representative know if you can attend by September 28th.  There is no charge for this event!

If you see this notice and are not yet playing in any on any of the women’s hockey teams, please contact the NOWHO league president Maria at smurph0983@gmail.com to be put in touch with the appropriate team manager.  Or show up to the event and meet the teams in person.

Cost will be $10 per person.

Icehawks 07-08 POWHA Champions!

Way to go Icehawks!  Playing with tremendous focus and effort - the 'Hawks beat the Columbus Bandits 3-1 to win the POWHA Lower Division Championship.  The Icehawks reached the finals with a 4-0 semifinal victory over the Pittsburgh Puffins.  In both games we had near perfect play - great hustle and intensity from all the skaters, solid goaltending when we needed it and both games were never in doubt.
