U18 Girls Repeat National Champions
Congratulations to the Cobra U18 Girls who successfully defended their Indoor National Championship last weekend in Baltimore (Jan 15th/16th).  The girls had an easy path to
the finals scoring 29 goals and only conceding 2 goals.  However, the final game against
the
VSA Heat from Virginia proved to be most difficult and tested the girls to the limit.
Although the game flowed from end to end we got off to a great start when Kori gave
us an early lead.  Soon after that Syd scored and at 2-0 we were having the best part of
the play.  However, VSA slowly got back into the game pulling a goal back making the
score 2-1.  Although we tried to take control of the game, once again VSA got the better
of us and scored again to tie the game at 2-2.  Now the momentum really switched and
we were defending under tremendous pressure, and sure enough, as this crazy game goes,
they went ahead 3-2.
When a team loses a 2-0 lead and concedes three successive goals, the momentum usually
totally shifts and remains with the team taking the lead.  This was not to be.  It took just
three minutes for Kori to equalize, and then put us ahead once again; this time until the
final whistle.  When Jordie scored to put the score at 5-3 in our favour, the momentum
seemed to have switched yet again until VSA scored again to put the score at 5-4.
Although we conceded the fourth goal the Cobra girls continued to fight for every ball and
once again Kori scored.  With the time running down, the VSA girls were certainly looking
as if they had peaked and when Kori scored the seventh goal, and her fifth of the game, they capitulated.
It certainly was a truly well played and a most exciting championship for all to see.  Overall
we scored 36 goals and only conceded 6; proof of worthy champions!  This championship
will be the culmination of the national indoor tournaments for some of the girls as they
graduate in the summer, and it certainly was a fitting end to their Cobra tenure.

Hat-Tricks

A Hat-Trick is achieved when a player scores three goals in one game.  To score a Hat-Trick is truly most difficult and the players below are being recognized for their remarkable achievements.  The Perfect Hat-Trick is when a player scores one goal with their left foot, scores one goal with their right foot, and scores one goal with a header; any order will suffice.  >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

U15 Boys Memorial Day Semi Finalists

U15 Boys in Erie
Thursday, June 10
The U15 Boys ended their spring/summer season with a convincing Memorial Day Tournament in Erie PA.  The team went undefeated during the preliminary rounds only to lose to the eventual champions in the semi-finals.  It was a remarkable achievement as the team was missing numerous players owing to family commitments, and had everyone been there the outcome would surely have been different.  This team gets stronger each season and the players are looking forward to getting together again in the winter.

U15 Boys in Lodi
Monday, April 12
The Cobra U15 Boys had a most successful opening tournament for the 2010 outdoor season advancing all the way to the final.  On the way to the semi final game the 15’s comprehensibly beat Northern Star from PA. the Ambassadors, and Cleveland United.  The semi final was against Whitecaps and after a most enjoyable game the final score was 2-2.  The game was decided by penalty kicks which the Cobras won 4-3.  Unfortunately, the Lads lost in the final game; however, they had a magnificent tournament during which they played some phenomenal soccer.

Cleveland Cup 2009 Girls' Champions

A combination team of U15, U16, U17, and U18 girls playing in the U18 Division ended up as tournament champions on Sunday night at the Cleveland State Dome.  The girls basically blew right through everyone until the final game when they faced a resolute Mentor Impact team.  During the Final with Laura in nets stopping everything Impact could shoot at her it was just a matter of time before one of the Cobras scored so we could win the game, and the goal came on the 15th minute mark.  Following a beautiful reverse diagonal pass from Kori Chapic, Kolbie Haines slotted the winner into the far corner of the net to give the Cobras a much deserved championship victory!

U17 Boys 2007  32nd Annual Virginian Invitation Tournament Runner-Ups!

Congratulations to the U17 boys team for another fantastic performance over the Memorial Day weekend, as they traveled back to Virgina to defend their 2006 Championship.  This year a combination of our best U16 and U17 boys combined their talents on the pitch as they competited in the Gold Bracket (2nd highest bracket in the tournament) to win their first four matches and advance to the finals for the 2nd straight year! The boys jumped out to a convincing 5-0 win over Pysa Toros FC (NY) in their first match, then went on with successful wins over Arlington Ambush (VA), and Wyckoff Torpedoes (NJ) to win their bracket out-right.  In the semi-final match, the boys went on to win their 4th match vs SYC Raiders (VA) before coming-up short against Footshills Titans (PA) in the championship.

The boys played extremely well throughout the entire weekend; and even found some down-time to travel by rail to Washington DC to watch MLS power-houses DC United vs Houston Dynamos play their league match.  Congratulations to all the boys, their families, team manager Gretchen Petty and coach Rich Hyland for a job well done!

Hoosiers Garner Three All-Conference Nods

Nov. 2, 2006
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Three Indiana women's soccer players were named All-Big Ten, two of which were also named to the All-Freshman Team, the conference office announced Thursday, Nov. 2. Senior defender Lauren Lamping, freshman defender Kelly Lawrence and freshman midfielder Christie Kotynski were honored by the conference. Indiana's three selections were the most since 1998.

Kotynski was a standout for the Hoosiers in her debut season at midfield, contributing on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. She scored four goals on the season, including the game-winner on Sunday, Oct. 1, against Michigan. The 5-11 native of Hudson, Ohio, was a force in the air, scoring three goals on headers and competing for nearly every ball in the air in the midfield.

Not only did Christie play in every game, she made an immediate impact on the team scoring four goals.  Indiana coach Mick Lyon referred to Christie as “One of the best incoming freshmen ever.”  In her first year playing at the Top Ten level, Christie attained these remarkable achievements:

U10 Coeds Autumn Finale 2006

The U10 Cobra Coed ended their first season together with a fabulous showing at the Season Finale in Lodi.  Although the boys and girls did not advance, they certainly played very well and were a pleasure to coach. The inaugural season for this team also went extraordinarily well.  The team gelled together quickly, trained hard, and soon became a force to be reckoned with throughout the league.  We even had a new club record set with this team.  Brianna Shingary scored a hat-trick in less than three minutes with a remarkable exhibition of her phenomenal goal scoring prowess.  She was well assisted by her new team mates in attaining such a remarkable feat.  We have a great group of young players and they all bring their own dynamism to the team.  I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching the players over the autumn season and certainly intend to be their primary coach for the indoor seasons.  Unfortunately, Dustin has broken his collar bone and we missed him and his defending skills at the tournament.  He will be out for a few weeks and then will be back with us again.

I want to thank all the players, Chase, Mark, Leah, Sabrina, Mikey, Dustin, Joey, Sammy, Samantha, Kotar, Anthony, Brianna, Riory, Jacob, and Jordan for being such fun in training and for working so hard for me.  The players never failed to amaze me as we worked on the many shooting drills I like to use.  Their skills and love for scoring was a pleasure to behold.

We are still looking for new U10 and U11’s to join the team as we eventually would like to have two teams, boys and girls, in these age groups.  So, if you are just checking our web page out and have a U10 or a U11 give us a call at 440-449-9394.
