The 2012 Cavs Mean Business
Facing a 3 game losing streak to the Alumni, the Cavs finally prevailed in dominant fashion, beating the Alumni 7-1 on Saturday. Grant Shapiro was 2 for 2 with a HBP and a run batted in. With the score tied at 1-1 in the 4th inning the Cavs roughed up Rafa Aguilar for 5 runs. Andrew Devian capped the scoring in the 5th inning with a nice squeeze bunt.
Jack Hartman, Josh Gomez, and Derek Costin pitched well in the win. Costin faced his brother and 2009 graduate, Taylor in the 9th inning, getting him to ground out. It was a historic day at Cleveland High School.
In the Home Run Derby it was Peyton Long who slugged 5 home runs to win it. He is the 1st player in many years to win the event. On a side note, Coach Marcial is doing well following the line drive that him in the home run derby. X-Rays were negative and he is listed as day-to-day.
