Cleveland Barons U-18 Midget Majors: Staff

Coach Tim Alexander

      Tim Alexander has been in the Cleveland area for over 25 years coaching at the Junior “A”, High School and Division 1 NCAA levels.

     Alexander has been the General Manager and Head Coach of the Cleveland Barons Hockey club (Junior A). His two stints were from 1993 thru 2001 and 2002 thru 2005. During the 2001-2002 season he was the full time Assistant Coach at Bowling Green State University in the CCHA. While with the Barons he was twice named the North American Hockey League Coach of the Year and has had 11 players drafted into the NHL and over 100 go onto collegiate hockey, with these players earning over 5 million is scholarship money. His record with the Barons was 311-241-31, while spending time on the Board of Governors in the NAHL as well as being a member of the Budget and Selection committee.

     In addition, Alexander was director and one of the founders of the Cleveland Barons AAA Youth program in 1994, which currently has seven youth teams with over 130 boys participating: served as Head Coach of the Cleveland North Coast Barons, Champions of the NAJHL Junior B League during the 1992-1993 season. He was an assistant coach at St. Edward High School from 1990-1992, helping the team capture the 1992 Ohio State High School Championship. His first coaching position was Head Coach of Rocky River High School from 1980 thru 1986 compiling an impressive record of 122-61-8.

     Alexander is a 1980 graduate of Bowling Green, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education with a minor in Athletic Coaching. The Windsor, Ontario native earned four letters on the ice under coaches Ron Mason (Michigan State) and Jerry York (Boston College) during his time as a Falcon. In the four years that Alexander played for the Falcons, the team captured three Central Collegiate Hockey Association Championships and earned three NCAA Tournament bids.

     Alexander has developed a national reputation as one of the top instructors as various hockey schools over the last 25 years. He has been an instructor at Michigan State University’s Summer Camp for over 15 years, Huron Hockey School, BGSU Hockey School and other various local camps.

Jeff is a Nationally Certified and Ohio Licensed Athletic Trainer running JLS Fitness, LLC to focus on helping individuals reach and exceed their goals of general health, athletic success and recovery from injury. Jeff specializes in Developmentally Appropriate Total Body Training (TBT), Flexibility Training, Post-rehabilitation TBT, Functional and Balance TBT, POSE Method Running, and In-Home TBT. His experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer with various professional organizations in Hockey, Lacrosse, Football and Soccer as well as High School and Collegiate Sport Coverage have helped him to develop one of the strongest educations in strength and conditioning in Northern Ohio. Most recently he acteds as the Coordinator of the Sports Medicine Department at Parma Community General Hospital in Northern Ohio and the Head Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Cleveland Barons Hockey Organization, working with athletes ages 10 and up. Jeff currently works with athletes of all ages and levels including special needs individuals and individuals with chronic pain and injuries.
