Spring Registration is now completed.  PLAY BALL!!

Thank you to the many, many Dignitaries, City of Clearwater Employees, and Clearwater Little League Volunteers that made OUR Feb. 15th, 2014

Sid Lickton Complex Inauguration & Opening Day Ceremony

so very special for so many!!!

Parents: no dogs are allowed inside the fenced areas.

Parents: our volunteers on the field ARE GREATLY AIDED when all parents help ensure (by each being vocal and not sitting back and expecting someone else to take care of it) that children that are not on the ball fields supervised:

A)  are not playing in our landscaped planter areas,

B) are not playing other sports or riding skateboards, bikes, or other things that do not belong within our dedicated baseball and softball facility,

C) are not throwing trash, gum, or other items anywhere on, or around, our complex.

Our facility is an incredible asset to our Community, our City, and our County.

Help us preserve it for our children's children, for all who choose to live and visit us here in our area, and for all future residents that will choose to move into our Beautiful and Central Clearwater area.

Thank you in advance for your Courage, Character, and it is mainly us, the parents, that can truly pass these Little League Defining Principles onto our own children.

Clearwater, Fla.--Following a 12 month, $3.3 million renovation, the Sid Lickton Sports Complex will reopen its seven ball fields Feb. 15, 2014. The re-opening ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. at the complex followed by an opening day celebration for Clearwater Little League.

Clearwater Mayor George Cretekos, City Manager Bill Horne, and leaders from the town of Belleair are expected to attend. Other county and state leaders have been invited. Two-time Olympic fast pitch gold medalist Michele Smith will also attend. Tampa Bay Rays commentator Dewayne Staats is the event’s master of ceremonies.

“Little League baseball provides a special opportunity for our children to learn the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship. This new first-class facility at Sid Lickton reaffirms the City of Clearwater’s commitment to its youth and lays a foundation for these young players to appreciate the significance of doing their best and of becoming responsible citizens,” said Clearwater Mayor George Cretekos.

First pitches for each field will take place simultaneously and will be thrown by representatives from the City of Clearwater, Pinellas County, Clearwater Little League, Clearwater for Youth, and Town of Belleair. Citizens are invited to attend the event which will include a children’s entertainment area and an appearance by Clearwater Threshers Mascot Phinley.

The Sid Lickton Sports Complex is home to the Clearwater Little League. It has supported community youth baseball and softball for more than 50 years. The renovations include a reconfiguration of the playing fields resulting in five 200’ fields, a practice field, and a 300’ junior/seniors field for ages 13 to 16. There is a new concession stand, press box, restrooms and five scoreboard stations.

Sid Lickton Sports Complex is located at 714 North Saturn Ave., Clearwater.

For informational Purposes:

A new Little League International Rule allows ANY player that does not live in the Clearwater Little League Boundary area BUT DOES ATTEND A SCHOOL in the Clearwater Little League Boundary to be able to play with Clearwater Little League. This is a new rule is intended to allow children that attend school together to be able to play after school baseball together with their school friends if they choose to.

The City of Clearwater and the Clearwater Little League are working together with Pinellas County and the Town of Belleair on a partnership agreement that will allow their Unincorporated Pinellas County residents to play baseball and softball at the Sid Lickton Complex for just $7.49 a season.

The details of this agreement have not been worked out yet, but we are excited to announce the City of Clearwater is allowing us to pass along this savings to you and your family for the 2014 Spring Season only.

Any family living in Unincorporated Pinellas County or the Town of Bellaire will pay the Clearwater Little League an additional $7.49 on top of the registration fee, which will eventually be passed on to the City of Clearwater.

City of Clearwater residents are always encouraged to purchase a recreation card ($7.49), so they can benefit all year long or pay $7.49 to the league.

I see great things in baseball. It's our game - the American game.
Walt Whitman

Do what you love to do and give it your very best. Whether it's business or baseball, or the theater, or any field. If you don't love what you're doing and you can't give it your best, get out of it. Life is too short. You'll be an old man before you know it.
Al Lopez

I think about baseball when I wake up in the morning. I think about it all day and I dream about it at night. The only time I don't think about it is when I'm playing it.
Carl Yastrzemski

I've always believed that anything you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe and enthusiastically act upon must, absolutely must, come to pass.
