The Crystal Lake Cardinals Baseball Association, NFP ("the Cardinals") was incorporated in January 2007 to foster amateur baseball. Prior to that, the Cardinals organization was called the Crystal Lake Travelers, and included our youth "Travelers" teams (ages 13 - 16), which were founded in 1985. It also included our American Legion program (ages 17 - 19), and our most recent addition, the collegiate program (ages 18 - 22) which was founded in 1995). The 2007 incorporation of the Cardinals brought all three of these programs under one banner. In 2011, the Cardinals replaced its American Legion program with a Jr. Collegiate program, consisting of recent high school graduates who are signed to play college ball in the Fall, and returning college freshmen who do not make the full collegiate team. This program offers younger college players (20U) the opportunity to play collegiate-level ball during the summer. Please follow the "Links" option on the left to find our College team page. In the near future, we anticipate one web site for all of our fans. The Cardinals afford young baseball players with the opportunity to play competitive baseball against teams from other towns in Illinois and out of state. The Cardinals are one of the few Northern Illinois programs offering opportunities to players ages of 13 - 22. To improve individual, team and coaching skills, College coaches and professional players' train Cardinals teams during fall, winter and summer camps. In addition, coaches are on staff with each team during the season to continue to help with the improvement of each player and team. The Cardinals are local hosts and participate in the 15 year old MCYSA World Championship tournament played in Crystal Lake, Illinois in July and August of every year. The tournament attracts teams from the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, Japan and other countries. The Cardinals have team tryouts for their youth teams (13 - 17) in late August and early September. The Jr. Collegiate (18 - 20) and Collegiate (18 - 22) teams typically tryout around the Memorial Day weekend (late May) every year. Tryouts are normally announced in the community section of the Northwest Herald days before the scheduled events. Our player's success is measured through our winning percentage of over 0.650, and our players achieving their goals of playing for their High School team and at the College level. Many Cardinals players of all ages have gone to play at the College level. Following are the schools many of our players have attended and played at over the years.
