Chiefs Cheerleaders Rock Mega Cheer!!!
The 2009 Mega Cheer was a fun and exciting event with our Chiefs Cheerleaders rocking the house!  During the first round, our Freshmen White came in 4th, Freshman Gold came in 3rd, and our Varsity Cheerleaders came in 1st.  During the second round the competition was tough but our Cheerleaders again performed outstandingly, Freshment White took 4th place, Freshment Gold took 2nd place, Freshmen Blue took 1st place, JV White took 3rd place and Varsity again took 1st place.  Our Freshmen Gold Cheerleaders are the 2009 Freshmen Overall Champions and our Varsity Cheerleaders are the 2009 Varsity Overall Champions (check out the pictures below).  CONGRATULATIONS to all our Cheerleaders for an outstanding 2009 Mega Cheer!

A FAMILY EXPERIENCE FOR 40 YEARS
(1970 - 2009)

Welcome to the Clarkston Football Association, home of the  Clarkston Chiefs.  Since 1970, the Clarkston Chiefs have supported the Clarkston Area and its children with experiences that last a lifetime.  The Clarkston Chiefs is a group of nearly 900 athletes, parents and volunteers who promote youth tackle football, cheerleading and pom pon.  We are a franchise of the Northern Youth Football League (www.nyfl.net).

The NYFL franchises realize that winning is not what creates a successful team, but focus on developing young men and women with character and respect for others.  That is why all NYFL teams must embrace the "KIDS FIRST" philosophy to participate in NYFL activities.  Currently, there are eight NYFL team franchises, which are:
Auburn Hills Makos  Lake Orion Dragons
 Brandon Jr. Blackhawks   Lapeer Steelers
 Birmingham Patriots  Oxford Jr. Wildcats
 Clarkston Chiefs

 Pontiac Panthers

   Waterford Corsairs

The athletes are between the ages of 8 and 14 and are separated into three divisions: Freshman(8-9), Junior Varsity (10-11) and a Varsity Team (12-14).  The Clarkston Chiefs currently have 3 freshman teams, 3 JV teams and 1 Varsity team. We are adding a second Varlsity team this year.  Our team colors are Gold, White and Blue.

Our summer practices begin in early August at Pine Knob Elementary with our first games starting on a weekend in late August. There are no games or practices Friday through Monday Labor Day weekend. Our season will end with the playing of the NYFL Super Bowl V in yearly November.  We also have an awards banquet which occurs in early November.

For the latest information about the Clarkston Chiefs, check out the "Chief's News" link.  It is updated with the latest information as it becomes available.  Additionlly, NYFL information can be found at www.nyfl.net.

Last year, the Pontiac Panthers were surprised that the Freshman White were even in the game on there way to the NYFL Super Bowl III Championship.  This year, they are wondering how the Freshman White won the game and the NYFL Super Bowl IV Championship.  It was the Panthers that clawed at the Chiefs with two touchdowns in the first half.  But, it was the Chiefs that never gave up as Ross Bailey scored twice after the 6 minute warning to take the game tied into the halftime break.  The game remain scoreless which meant the game had to go into overtime.  But, the Panthers could not move forward as they were denied any points in overtime.  The Christopher Cartier shot an arrow through the heart of the Panthers as he ran for 10 yards and the NYFL Super Bowl IV Championship.

Last year, the Clarkston Chiefs White fumbled and bumbled through the first half of Super Bowl III and eventually lost to the Lake Orion Dragons in a great overtime game.  For a whole year, the Chiefs remembered and were determined to get another chance.  The Pontiac Panthers, also had Super Bowls on there mind as they were eliminated early the last two years after winning NYFL Super Bowl I.  Early, it was the Chiefs that showed the Panthers that they would have to stop the pass and the run as Zezula passed the ball to Kostich for a 20 yard TD pass and Zezula kicked the conversion for a 8-0 lead.  But, the Panthers did not flinch as they came right back with a 75 yard run by #25, but did not make extra point.  From that point on, it was all Chiefs as they experinenced a TD run by Zezula, a halfback pass to Kostich and a run by Engler to win going away 28-6.  But really, it was the defense that held a tough Pontiac offense in check that lead to Chiefs winning the Junior Varsity NYFL Championship.

The last time the Chiefs were in the Super Bowl, they were demolished by the defending NYFL Super Bowl I Champions Pontiac Panthers.  This time they were against another great champion as the Waterford Corsairs won NYFL Super Bowl III.  Though there were 22 players on the field, this game seemed to be a battle of wits between Waterford great quarterback #15 and the Chiefs running back #14 Ben Kaminsky and quarterback #27 Taylor Barton.  All players enjoyed touchdowns in regulation. But, when regulation ended, the game was tied 12-12. Waterford took the ball first in overtime and #15 proved he was not just a runner as he threw a beautiful fade pass to #89 on the first play to score first.  But, the conversion was no good as the Chiefs stopped another pass on the one yard line.  Then, the Chiefs took over by trying to pass themselves, but #27 Taylor Barton tucked the ball away for a run to the 5 yard line.  Kaminsky then finished the deal with a run off the right side to tie the score.  After a Chiefs time out, it was Kaminsky again. But he seemed to be stopped at the one, then the linemen and Kaminsky started chopping those big legs which lead to Ben falling into the endzone to capture the Chiefs 1st Varsity NYFL Super Bowl title.
