2012 Season -- MSC All Stars Ironman Tournament Saturday, June 9th at Linwood Middle School 25 Linwood Place, (off Hermann Road) in North Brunswick, 08902

Games at 10 am, 12:40pm and either 3pm or 4:50pm depending on pool play; be in the gym ready to go by 9:45am.

Last week of practice -- Monday & Wednesday, June 11th & 13th at 6pm; special practice game on Wednesday--everyone must attend!!

Renegade Rumble in Newtown PA.  CJ Jammers went 2-2 against quality teams.  We started sluggish against a good Renegade team and ended up getting spanked.  We recovered stong in game 2 and smoked the Chesco Bolts by 26 points.  Jammers were led by Brian Schuld with 11 points and 5 steals;  Kamani Haney chipped in with 10 points and 6 steals. Isiah Hunt had 6 points and 7 rebounds, Klyvert St. Fleur played tough on the boards and excellent defense, and Jelani Richard had four points including a nice buzzer shot.  Game three on Sunday was exciting.  We were trailing most of the first half but made a nice 20 to 5 run late in the game fueled by 2-2-1 full court pressure and ended up winning 59-52.  Danny Gamboa had his best game as a jammer knocking down a high percentage of shots and finished with a double double 24 points  and 12 boards......Kamall played one of his best games as floor leader and finished with 12 points and 6 assists.  The final game against the Perkasie Knights was a tale of two different games.  The first half the jammers were sluggish and just uninspired, down by as much as 20 points in the first half.  After some choice wake-up words from Coaches Caruso and Bell at half-time, the jammers came back strong with tenacious man-to-man full court pressure led by Isiah Hunt, Ryan Starace and Jaier Garrett, cut the lead to three points with 5 seconds to go.  A 22 foot shot by Kamaal at the buzzer was just off the rim.  Jammers fell short 62-59.  Ryan Starace hit three three's in the 4th quarter and finished with 12 points as did Brian Schuld.  Jaier Garrett played his best game of the season and finished with 10 points and 7 steals.  All-in-all a satisfying weekend, finished off with special rewards from Coaches Bell & Caruso -- some philly pretzels and mustards.

Remaining Tournament Schedule:

June 9  MSC All-Stars, North Brunswick Saturday only three games

Last practice Wednesday, June 13th

Recap CJ Jammer 2011 Season Boys grades 7-8

  Tourney Recaps --

Renegade Summer Jam -- the CJ Jammer 14U boys continued to show improvement by going 4-0 on June 4-5 in Horsham PA.  Amir Johnson contined to lead the way with leadership and key plays down the stretch, averaging 15 points 5 assists and 5 steals.  The tourney begin swiftly with a Jammer "W" and a 40 point blow out against Philly Point Guard.  Our 3-2 defense was just too tough to penetrate and the first group built a 30-1 lead at halftime.  Valrun Luthra, Chris Raymond and Jamyr Greene led the charge in the second half and built the final cushion.  Valrun had 8 points & 7 boards while Chis chipped in with 5 assists and 5 steals!  In the 2nd game, a key steal by Carl McEwen with under 30 seconds to play led to an easy assist to Amir for the winning basket as the Jammers beat the home team Renegades 51-49.  Amir Johnson led the team with 22 points and Richie McKee made some nice moves to the hoops and finished with 8 points.  The biggest play of the game came at the end of the first quarter with the clock running down, Jamyr Greene hit a big three pointer from deep in the far corner to tie the score....a big momentum builder going into the 2nd half.  Joe Schiano finished with 10 boards as did Brenden Wash.  Both played outstanding interior defense.  Sunday's games were similar to Saturday's.  The Jammers turned a close game against the Hoop Factory into another blow-out winning 71-49.  Four Jammers hit for double figures, with Joe Schiano leading the way with 16, Amir chipped in 15, Danny Gamboa played well around the rim with 14 points and Richie McKee continue his heady play going to the hoop finishing with 10 points.  Carl MacEwen played another strong, solid game with 8 boards, 8 assists 6 points and 3 steals.  Chris Raymond showed his athleticism with 6 rebounds and taking the ball to the hoop for 6 points including 4 of 8 from the foul line.  The final game against the Perkasie Knights was back and forth for most of the game.   The Jammers held a 25-18 half-time lead but the Knights wouldn't go away until a key defensive switch to a 1-3-1 pressure "d" by Coach Bell and Mickle allowed the Jammers to pull away in the final 3 minutes.  Brenden Wash led the Jammers with a double double 14 points & 14 boards with Amir Johnson contributed 10 points, 5 assists, 8 steals and "no" turnovers.  All-in-all an outstanding effort for all the Jammers.  You could easily see the positive impact of Coach Sal Matrisciano's skills & conditioning drills were the difference at the end of each game.   Let's continue our successful effort on June 11-12 in Hopewell.  Go Jammers!!

CJ Cardinal Tournament May 14-15 --Jammers finished a respectable 2-2 losing a tough opener by 9 points to the East Brunswick Bears then beating Coaches Choice USA by 8 points 45-37 in a contest the Jammers led most of the game.   The Jammers were overmatched by a competitive CJ Hawks who led from start to finish.  The Hawks are one of the top five 14U teams in NJ.  The Jammers finished the tournament with a 49-42 victory over Tom's River United.  Carl MacEwen led the team in assists averaging 5 per game. Carl, Brenden Wash and Amir Johnson averaged two steals per game.  Brenden Wash was big on the board collecting 40 rebounds or 10 per game, and Amir Johnson was leading scorer averaging 15 points per game.  Joey Schiano & Christian has some big baskets in wins over Coaches Choice & Tom's River United.  Everyone played hard on defense, especially Richie McKee, Jaier Garrett,Thompson Sharrybay and Danny Gamboa.
