2012 League Fee

2012 League Fee Increase

Coaches and Parents

Due to significant increases in expenses and costs associated with running the CJBL, the board of Directors has agreed to increase the league fees to $200 per team per season starting in the Spring of 2012. We understand the current economic climate puts a strain on every one.  We have postponed the increase as long as possible, but the persistent rise in insurance and associated costs of running the organization makes the change necessary now. We have not increased the league fees since 2008. We will continue to provide the same high-level service as you have enjoyed in the past. We are sorry for the strain that this places on your budget and we pledge to do all we can to keep costs down. To offset some of this increase, we will be offering a combined discount for member teams. If you join for both the Spring and Fall seasons, We will discount the combined League fee to $350 for both seasons. We still provide one of the best values of any sports league in New Jersey. Other leagues charge from $1100(combined costs) to $1350 based on the level of included services. We have a 18 year track record of providing quality youth baseball in New Jersey. Don’t pay for games you do not play. We charge a $200 registration fee per team. That’s it. Don’t get hooked into a $1100-$1400 league for a season. Other leagues try to make you believe you are getting a great deal but add it up.

     Other Leagues vs. CJBL

Other Leagues - Baseballs  2 dozen included

CJBL - buy your own $70

Other Leagues - Insurance good for 1 season (Spring or Fall)

CJBL - Buy your own good for the full year including pre season training and Non CJBL Events  $130 -$150  (Referral available)

Other Leagues - Umpires usually 1 for 46/60 field

CJBL - make 1 phone call and scheduled your own $50-$60 per game. (Two umps per game required)

Other Leagues - Scheduled 10 game season

CJBL - Scheduled 10 game season

Other Leagues - No refund for ump costs games not played

CJBL - pay for only the games you play.

Other Leagues - Championship Game ump costs paid by league

CJBL - Championship Game ump costs paid by league

Other Leagues - NO refundable bond to ensure teams play

CJBL - $200 Security Deposit required from all teams to ensure games are played

Other Leagues - Total Costs $1100 -$1350

CJBL - Total Costs $900 + $200 refundable deposit

You save $200-$900 PER SEASON ........... Play both Spring and Fall and it could be almost a $1000 Difference.

Other leagues make money on non played games. If you pay for a 10 game season and only play 8 or 9, who gets the leftover umpire fees? In our league you pay for the umpires you use. We have divisions that have played every scheduled game in a season, no missed games !

Do the other leagues schedule ages 8 thru 12 with 2 umpires for every game or do they only provide one?

We are not only the best bargain in travel baseball; we have some of the best teams and coaches in the state. We divide teams by strength, and geography. We try to provide a quality baseball experience for all teams.

We offer Championship and second place awards.  We have free coach’s clinics run by former pro and college coaches including some of the best High School coach’s around.

We have a centralized Spring Championship Sunday at a neutral field where all the Championship games are played in one facility.  All this is also at no extra charge to our member teams.

We also have some exiting new ventures and partnerships to be announced in the coming days. So join the other 200+ teams that played with us last year.  Download your registration, roster forms and code of ethics from the FORMS section of this website.

Composite Bats

Coaches,

We have been contacted by many of you in reguards to the ruilings on composite bats. the directors have met as a group several times and we have asked for input from many fellow coaches as well as Little League, and Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken  Administarators  about this issue. There are many opinions floating around about the interprutation of the study done my Umass (Lowell) in reguard to this matter. The study in question is not available to the public as it was commissioned by LL and Babe Ruth and the results are not public( http://m-5.eng.uml.edu/umlbrc/index.htm). There are many types of composite bats on the market and the fully composite barrell bats are the bats in question. We as a league have hesitated in making any decisions or announcements on this subject as we feel there are too many recent developments reguarding the rulings. As a matter of fact .. as of February 4th, Babe Ruth / Cal Ripken baseball have rescended their bat moratoriun for the 12U divisions (http://www.baberuthleague.org/resources/CompositeBatMemo.htm). We feel more information is to be released and we do not want to rush to a decision. As always all decisions made by the CJBL will be for the safety, and enjoyment of our member teams and players. We understand many players recieved or purchased these bats over the last few moths and we intend to do our best to make sure our decision is well vetted.

After a lenghty discussion at the annual meeting last week, here are the league's findings.
1) Many leagues and organizations that have their teams playing in the CJBL are either affiliated with, members of, or are independent of Williamsport Little League, Cal Ripken or The Babe Ruth Leagues. There is a conflict in their official rulings determining what bats are legal and what bats are banned. Testing that was completed by the University of Massachusetts at Lowell was discovered to be inconclusive at this time.
2) The CJBL continues to be a league run by the participating coaches. Opinions for and against a "Bat Ban" were listened to and discussed by over 100 coaches present at the meeting. Many very good points surfaced and it was an excellent exchange of ideas. The players safety was the overriding theme.
3) The issue was put to a vote after approximately 60 minutes of debate. The coaches overwhelmingly voted against banning any bats that have been banned by the current governing bodies of the leagues mentioned earlier.
4)All Home coaches must disclose if a compex bans any bats to the visiting team during game schedule time. If the visiting team Objects. The game should be switched to the home field of the visitors, however the Original Home team will still be considered "Home" and bat at the bottom of the inning.

Thank you and enjoy the game.

Michael Hogan and the CJBL Directors (Bo and Kenny)
