The Classic made it's debut on the smaller of Roselawn's fields in 2004 in which the Cincinnati Storm bested the Cincinnati Hurricanes in a rain shortened Classic. The 2005 event moved to the beautiful riverside setting of Schmidt Fields in a sunny, three day weekend. The Cincy Dodgers bested the Diamond Stars to capture the laurel of champions in this event.
The 2006 Classic will once again host teams from all three divisions of the Southwest Ohio League (National, American, and Continental) as the classic moves to the high school diamonds of the park. The 2006 Classic promises to deliver the fast paced, exciting action of youth baseball in Cincinnati.

COBRAS FINISH 4TH IN COOPERSTOWN
The Cobras played in the Cooperstown Baseball World National Baseball Tournament from July 9-15 and finsihed 4th in the championship bracket. The Cobras opened round robin play with a 4-2 win over the West Essex (NJ) Predators. In the nitecap of the tourney's first day, the Cobras recovered from an early 2 run deficit but could not hold on for the win, dropping the decision 6-5 to the Simi Valley (CA) Predators. The Cobras came out on day 2 determined to take the lead in pool play, and started the day off with an 8am 10-0 win over the Columbia (MD) Bulldawgs. The 1pm game set the Cobras against the undefeated Mission Viejo (CA) Scorpions for 1st place in the pool. Double steals, pickoff plays, suicide squeezes, and good baseball was the rule as the Cobras scored the game winner on a wild pitch in extra innings. The weary Cobras lost to the Jersey Bandits on Tuesday, but managed to secure the #4 seed entering the one and out Championship Pool.
The Cobras avenged the earlier loss to Simi Valley by knocking the Predators out of championship play 4-3. On the last play of the game, with the tying run on 3rd, a bad hop ricocheted off the shoulder of shortstop Max Knipper and appeared to allow the Predators a tie. A hustling Corey Smith, following the play from his 3rd base position, grabbed the ball barehanded in the air and double pumped a strike to the stretching Kevin Nerl at first to nail the batter and seal the two hitter for Tommy White.
In the day's 2nd game, the Cobras faces #1 seed Souther California White Sox, previously undefeated and unchallenged. The Cobras grabbed a 2-1 lead but could not hold on for the win as the White Sox slammed a two out two strike 5th innning double to take the lead and the eventual win, 3-2. In the Cobras' final game, an early lead did not hold up and the squad lost 11-10.
Overall, it was an outstadning tournament against outstanding competition for the Cincinnati nine.
