Cincy Cobras: Welcome
Welcome to the Cincinnati Cobras Team Site. The Cobras commence their 13th year as an organization, and are proud members of the Southwest Ohio League National Division for the 2009 season in the 17u age group, their sixth season in the SWOL. The Cobras will once again compete in the Greater Cincinnati Select Baseball league for their second season in this league.
The Cobras won their respective Knothole Leagues/Divisions in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003. In 2003, the Cobras went undefeated in the BPA round robin competition in Owensboro, Ky., and after competing in the SWOL for their first year and finishing tied for 2nd in their division of the American League, traveled to the NABF 12u World Series in 2004.
In July 2005, the Cobras traveled to Oneonta, New York, to play in the Cooperstown Baseball World 13U Championships. The CBW included teams from California, New Jersey, Maryland, Ohio, Illinois, New York, and Canada. The Cobras finished 2nd in pool play at 3-1. The team then defeated Simi Valley in the first round of Championship play to avenge their earlier defeat, before losing 3-2 to the Southern California White Sox in the semifinals.
In 2006, the Cobras finished 3rd in the SWOL American Division and 3rd in the Sandlott Mid American Conference. The Cobras traveled south to play in the Cocoa Expo Internationale Tournament in Cocoa Beach, Florida, over the July 4th holiday. One highlight for the team was witnessing the launch of the space shuttle from the tournament complex. Another was cruising through pool play with a 4-1 record before finishing 4th overall in the tournament.
The 2007 edition of the Cobras cruised through the SWOL American Division with a 12-0 record before traveling south to Myrtle beach and the Ripken Experience 16u Tidal Wave Tournament.
The Cobras are young men from Terrace Park, Norwood, Loveland, Anderson Township, Mason and Wilmington, and attend Mariemont High School, Purcell Marian High School, Norwood High School, Archbishop Moeller High School, Seven Hills, St. Xavier High School, Calvary Christian and Clinton Massie High School.
The Cobra's home yard is Roselawn Park on Seymore Ave, one block west of the Cincinnati Gardens. Roselawn Park is home to the Cincinnati Recreation Commission's Men's Baseball League, Greater Cincinnati Roy Hobbs Baseball, and the Buckeye baseball 18+ State Tournament. Roselawn Park is considered as one of the finest public baseball field complexes in the Tri State. The park features 4 grass infields, ranging from 60'-70' basepaths on Field 4, 70'-80' basepaths on Field 3, and 90' basepath fields in Fields 1 and 2.
