Offense finally shows up!

Yankees 11 Bulls 5

For the first time this season the powerful Yankee offense made an appearance. The Yankees bang out 16 hits, including homeruns from Rob Rendle and Jared Cutter, as the Yankees improve to 5-1 with an 11-5 win over the Bulls.

Cutter also picked up the win on the hill going 6 strong innings. Rendle and Pearson finished up to seal the victory.

Challenging week ahead, with the always tough Royals on Wednesday night and the defending champion Sting on Sunday!

Yankees regain 1st place

Yankees 4 Deerfield 2

The Yankees 4-2 win over Deerfield coupled with the Sting's 7-4 loss to the Dragons Wednesday night has put the Yankees back in first place.

After suffering a loss to the Astros , David Pearson looked much more like himself , firing a complete game for his 3rd win of the season!

Nick Trimmer contriuted with a couple of big 2 our RBI's while Rob Rendle added a long triple and solid defense in center.

The Yankees are back in action Sunday morning against the Cubs at Sycamore

Yanks strand small village on bases, but still win!

Yankees 5 Dragons 2

The Yankees moved to 3-0 on Sunday after outlasting the Dragons 5-2. The Yankees left a ton of runners on base, but still scored enough to claim the victory thanks to solid pitching and defense.

Jared Cutter went 8 innings for the win, while rookie Adam Weiss threw a scoreless ninth to pick up the save in his Yankees debut.

Eric Dittmer made two highlight reel catches in right, while Mike Soto held down the fort in centerfield.

The Yankees will try to make it 4 wins in as many tries as they take on the Astros on Wednesday night at Sycamore at 6:30.

Thursday, May 7
Yankees win another close one!

Yankees 4 Royals 2

The Yankees were able to post another win without much hitting Sunday as they outlasted the Royals 4-2. David Pearson was solid again, going 7+ innings of 2 run baseball for the win. K.C. Fread threw the last two innings to pick up the save.

The Yanks now have 2 wins despite scoring just 6 runs and collecting 9 hits in 2 games. The pitching and defense are getting it done so far.

Next up will be the Astros on Wednesday may 13th at Roselawn

Royals on deck!

Yanks vs Royals
9-9-1 all time

It doesn't get any easier this Sunday as the Yankees take on their long time rivals the Royals. Last year the Royals took both regular season games (3-0 and 9-4), but the Yankees did get some measure of revenge in the postseason winning 3-2.

Historically, this series couldn't be any closer. Since 2003, the two teams have split 19 games 9-9-1. The Royals and Yankees have met in the playoffs in 3 of the last 4 years and have ended each others season on all 3 occasions.

5/14/2003 Yankees 1 0 Royals
6/29/2003 Yankees 5 21 Royals
7/16/2003 Yankees 9 8 Royals
7/7/2004 Yankees 2 8 Royals
7/21/2004 Yankees 8 8 Royals
6/5/2005 Yankees 4 6 Royals
7/24/2005 Yankees  9 8 Royals
8/21/2005 Yankees  8 13 Royals
9/14/2005 Yankees 9 3 Royals
9/25/2005 Yankees  4 14 Royals
9/28/2005 Yankees 8 9 Royals
8/2/2006 Yankees 3 13 Royals
7/8/2007 Yankees  10 5 Royals
8/1/2007 Yankees 11 1 Royals
9/5/2007 Yankees  7 3 Royals
9/19/2007 Yankees  7 6 Royals
7/23/2008 Yankees  0 3 Royals
8/3/2008 Yankees 4 9 Royals
9/14/2008 Yankees  3 2 Royals

First pitch is set for 9:30 at Sycamore HS, it should be another well played tight ball game.

Yankees open with a win

yanks2suds1

It wasn't easy, and usually never is against the Suds, but somehow we pulled out a 2-1 opening day win.

David Pearson, KC Fread, and Jared Cutter combined to no hit the Suds and allow us to escape with a win despite collecting just 4 hits.

Brian Weinewuth made a nice play at short to save a pair of runs, while Mike Shrimpton gunned down two would be basestealers.

The offense just couldn't shake off the rust, literally.  Tip of the cap to Suds pitcher Brian Rust, who looked like he was in midseason form striking out 16 Yankees in 7 innings.

25 wins!

 Yankees

2008 was a great year for the Yankees. The team set a record with 25 wins and made it to the tournament championship game. The 2009 season looks just as promising, with a few key additions,  the Yankees should be able to make another run for the league championship.
