The 2011 Cincinnati Stars completed their season Tuesday evening with a loss in the CRC City Tournament to the Cincinnati Chiefs. The Stars had a very successful summer as they finish with 32 victories in 47 games played. Most importantly each player improved their play in the field and hitting. Players were able to get well over 100 plate appearances, and several pitchers were able to get 25 plus innings on the bump. Three Stars pitchers were called to join Great Lakes summer teams during the season.
Best of luck to all 2011 Star players as they approach their new school year and fall baseball season.

The Stars and Champions Baseball Academy hooked up for another gem of a game at Testerman Park on Tuesday evening. Good pitching along with some outstanding defensive plays on both sides as CBA took a 2-1 lead into the top of the 9th. Mike Morris (Tenn. Tech) led off the 9th by hitting a slow ground ball to first base and was able to beat the first baeman to the bag. With one out and Morris moving to second on a passed ball, Tyler Raymond (Univ. of Ky) hit a fly ball to right, Morris tagged up and beat the throw to third with the ball bouncing away from third, Morris scampered home to even the score at 2-2. The game went to the 10th in which the Stars were able to get runners at second and third with two outs but a strike out looking ended the top half of the 10th. In the bottom of 10, CBA stared the inning with a walk, and wild pitch sending their runner to second. The Stars elected to intentionally walk the next batter to set up a possible double play. That idea was thawrted with another wild pitch putting runners at second and third. The next CBA batter hit a ball in the right center gap to give Champions a walk off 3-2 win.
