FORMER CATOCTIN STANDOUT WILL DELAWTER FEATURED ON PINGBASEBALL.COM

Former Catotctin  and current UMBC standout Will Delawter has been featured on Ping!Baseball.com. Will is the spotlight player of the week, and the article was very complimentary of Will as a player, a student and most importantly a person. We are very proud of Will's accomplishments, especially his commitment to school, family, and baseball. Good luck to Will, and the rest of the Cougar Den as they prepare for another season of college baseball.  Go Dawgs !!!!!!!!

THE CHS COACHING STAFF

Mike Franklin (9th year) -  Head Coach Mike Franklin has taken the Cougars to a championship level, winning 4 Regional Championships in the past 7 years, 2 league titles, the first county championship and 2 trips to the State Title game (all firsts). He was named "Coach of The Year" in 2002 (Frederick Post), 2003 (MVAL), and 2004 (Frederick Post), named to coach the State All-Star game at Camden Yards (2004) and the western MD All-Star game at Hagerstown Suns stadium(2007). Before arriving at CHS, Mike was an assistant for 1 year at Frederck high and before that at Salisbury University winning Regional Championships at both. As a player at local Linganore High, Mike won a CMC and Regional championship in baseball as well as State titles in football and power-lifting. Mike then attended FCC where he was a division I All-Junior college selection.

Les Fisher (9th year) - Coach Fisher has been at Catoctin through all of Franklin's tenure. Fisher, a former standout at CHS, has been instrumental in the success of our program. Coach Fisher was named as the AFLAC National Assistant Coach of The Year in 2003 and was the 3rd base coach for the western MD All-Star game. Les handles the infielders for the Cougars and is the master of pitching batting practice.

Phil Caruso (6th year) - How's this for experience? Coach Caruso has had success as the Head Coach at Frostburg State, Garrett, and Frederick Community Colleges. Phil has left each of those programs at a championship level. Phil has the highest winning percentage as a coach in Frostburg University history! He is a master motivator and runs the "Diamonds in the Rough" summer Camp.

Bill Delawter (4th year) - Bill joins the CHS staff but is not new to coaching. He helped lead the Central Maryland Athletics to NABF and Dizzy Dean National titles in 2002 and 2003, and multiple World Series apperences with the Maryland Orioles at various age levels. He will be working with our JV pitching staff. He is the father of CHS "All State, Player of the year, and All American" graduate Will Delawter.

B.J. Schildt (1st year) - B.J. will be our JV coach this year. B.J. played at CHS under Coach Franklin and graduated in 2000. He was a standout catcher his senior year. He brings enthusiasm to this program. B.J. replaces Coach Sigler who is in Afghanistan serving our country for 2 years.

Wayne Kerns (1st year) - Wayne joins the CHS staff this year and will be our assistant JV coach. Wayne also serves as our program's outfield coach. Wayne  played for Coach Franklin and graduated in 2000.
