14U Division Overview

The 14U Recreation, Semi-Competitive, and Competitive Divisions are for boys and girls aged 14 and under.

The 13U Recreation, Semi-Competitive, and Competitive Divisions are for boys and girls aged 13 and under. New for '08!

The 14U division is a continuation of the development of more advanced baseball fundamentals, as with the 8U and 10U divisions, the 14U division is a transition league. Players are typically transitioning to high school baseball. These divisions will continue to use all of the major league baseball rules and can add the "extra" hitter rule, and will begin to use high school rules, such as must slide into 2nd base on double plays, must avoid contact, 3 trips to the mound before taking the pitcher out, the high school balk rule(s), etc. A single batting order is used as well as standard defensive positions. High School rules enforce a bat size restriction, but this division does not enforce that rule. This division plays on an 80-foot baseline, 54-foot pitching distance, and 7-inning games that are timed, where no new inning can begin after 2 hours and 15 minutes. Like the 12U Recreation Division, the 14U Recreation Division will monitor playing time and each player must play a minimum of 6-innings on defense and have at least one at bat in two consecutive games. All non-protected 14U Rec. players must try-out prior to team selection, although this is called a “try-out”, all players will be selected. The 14U Semi-competitive division will also provide try-outs and players will play on Sundays; the 14U Comp. division will include full teams already selected and will only play weekday games.

Additionally, these rules will apply for the 13U Recreation, Semi-Competitive and Competitive Divisions too.

* Games are played at Westwood Park in Citrus Heights. Additional game sites may be used when playing other league teams.
