Greater Sacramento Youth Baseball: 6U (6 and Under)

6U Division Overview

The 6U is for boys and girls between the ages of 4.5 and 6 years old.

In the past, this was strictly a “Tee-Ball” division. Our current format has been made to provide a progressive approach to how your player develops over the first few years of baseball. The 6U play on the same sized field – 50-foot bases, 38-foot pitching distances, 4-inning games and 1 hour and 20 minute game time limits. Tee-Ball bats are used. Below is an overview of the 6U division:

6U is the “Tee-Ball/Coach pitch” division of Citrus Heights Youth Baseball. This division will consist of first-time players as well as returning players between the ages of 4.5 and 6. The players will learn the fundamentals of baseball as well as good sportsmanship and confidence.  Games will consist of alternating offensive innings, one inning tee-ball, next inning coach pitch, where the coaches will pitch 4-balls to each player; should the player fail to put the pitched balls into play, he will hit from the tee. This division will play by the 6U rules as they apply in the current approved set of by-laws. This division was created to allow players to strengthen their fundamentals and build their confidence in hitting pitched balls, so as they advance into the 8U division next year they are more confident in their abilities and therefore should have more fun.

* Games are played at Eastwood Field adjacent to Westwood Field at Westwood Park.
