Announcing the DELCO Soccer Spring League 2012 Season

Registration Now Open

As the Fall soccer season is now complete, DELCO Soccer didn't want the momentum and enthusiasm to slow down. Effective today, the DELCO Soccer League (DSL) is now accepting registrations for the 2012 Spring season. DSL's Spring Season kicks off in late March (weather permitting) and runs through early May with teams competing in 4-6 games held on Sunday afternoons.

What is DSL?

It’s a great way to build a strong, competitive plan for your team's spring schedule. With Sunday afternoon only games and more flexible scheduling, DSL provides U9 – U15 teams a good complement to tournaments and State Cup competitions. As well with other sports competing with players’ time, the Sunday afternoons allow for dual-sport athletes to continue to compete as the weather warms and Fall tryouts begin.

Drive time to play opposing teams will carefully be looked at to ensure good competition whilst also minimizing drive times for away teams. For U9 teams interested in playing 6v6 (5 + a GK) as opposed to 8v8 this Spring, please register and indicate that in your registration comments as well as email indicating this as your preference. There will be a discussion with U9 teams indicating this as a preference to ensure they are able to provide properly sized fields and goals for this smaller small sided play for our youngest players. If not enough 6v6 teams register, the teams preferring this can either play 8v8 or opt out and be refunded.

Spring Season registration begins today and ends January 20, 2012. No late registrations will be accepted. The Spring season registration fee is $105.00 and is due within seven days of the team’s online registration. Checks should be made out to Delco Soccer League and mailed to: 141 West Rose Valley Rd., Wallingford, PA 19086-6750.

No registrations nor payments will be accepted after January 23rd, 2012 so register early and send payment within 7 days.

Spring Season Registration, Season & Scheduling Tips

1. To register online for Spring Season now, click here:

2. Much like the Fall League, there will be several levels of competition in each age group (number of registering teams-dependent) with most age groups containing Divisions 1 through 4, each with approximately 5-10 teams of similar ability. Use the below as guidance when registering your team. The team’s last two Fall seasons’ results and any information you provide during the registration process or sent in with payment – such as tournament results or other background information – will be used to properly place a team in the appropriate division.

• DSL’s Division 1 will contain top teams typically Fall League’s Division 1&2 and top-finishing Division 3 teams.

• DSL’s Division 2 will contain Fall Division’s D2 – D4 teams.

• DSLs Division 3 will consist of Fall D4-D6 teams.

• DSL’s Division 4 will contain D6-D8 or teams.

3. Schedules will have a certain amount of flexibility as the Spring League Commissioner will work around team conflicts that are submitted prior to the release of the game schedules. Please ensure any tournaments or known conflicts on game dates (see below) are sent to Spring Season Coordinator along with your payment and/or no later than 1/23/2012.

4. For a team to have a bye weekend for a tournament or any other special scheduling consideration, the team must send an email to the DSL Spring Season Coordinator ( by January 25th.

5. Teams are permitted to have up to five "club pass" players for each league game, but unlike the fall season these players can come from any team within the club that plays in the DELCO Soccer League (as long as the players is age eligible for the team that they are guest playing with).

6. DSL Spring Season does not have a roster freeze date, so roster changes can be made up to the Wednesday each week.

7. Game reports will be collected, but standings will not be kept and playoffs will not be held at the end of the season nor trophies awarded.
