Welcome back everybody to the 2007 Chicago Stars/Shooting Stars Basketball season!!!
Well it's that time again, the Pan Orthodox is just around corner, as is the GMMT and the SNF.
The dates have been confirmed as follows:
PAN ORTHODOX-DETROIT, MI: MARCH 16,17,18
GMMT - CHICAGO (High School Only): APRIL 27,28,29
SNF - GARY, IN: MAY 18,19,20

We also have a couple other smaller tournaments in between that can be eaasily scheduled if we have enough interest.

An information packet will be e-mailed out over he next two days detailing the tournaments , lodging, costs, and transportation.

Update on ID requirements.

We just received word that if both parents are not traveling with you, then you still need a letter from the non-traveling parent givng permission to leave the country.

The reason for this because of child custody issues that have come up in the past.

I will try to get a form letter up on the site for you to download and print.

IMPORTANT?  TRAVEL ? INFORMATION FOR CANADA

ID REQUIREMENTS:
If you are a US citzen, a drivers license, passport and birthcertificate are recomended.
If you are a? player. a birth certificate and school id are required.

If you are a player under 18, then you need a letter from your parents stating;
1.that you are there child.
2.that they are allowing you to go to Canada? to play in a basketball tournament.
3.they must sign the letter and put there address and phone number on it.

If you are? driving up with the? "caravan", we are meeting at the Ostojic house at 4:00pm Thursday. and leaving at 4:30pm. It's about a? 5 hour drive. (Actually shorter than the Pan orthodox trip).

Please confirm with? Coach? Vlad your? room arrangements.? Coach Vlad will also contact you regarding?  those players who haven't paid there fees yet.? 

Bring both dark and white uniforms. Contact your coach if you don't have them yet.

Inform your teachers that you will not be attending classes on Friday due to a Serbian Cultural Event hosted by the Serbian Orthodox Church of Winsdor.

There is a dance at St. Michaels after the games starting at 7PM geared towards the players.

IMPORTANT UPDATE : Due to the change in first game times, we no longer have enough people to completely fill the bus (Thursday night obligations), in addition, the "extra day" required for leaving on Thursday would cost an additional $1000. In leiu of this, we will be driving up with our own transportation. More updates as they become available.

We plan on leaving Thurday?  May 18 at aproximately 4:30 PM.

Biddy A came in 2nd Place at the St Elijah Tournament with a 2-1 record.

Biddy B finished with a 1-1 record.

Women won the Consolation Championship Game? at the? GMMT handily beating there opponent.

Strong performances from? Andrea(yes, I do get every rebound)Wensits, Kim? (Let me show you how it's done) Wensits, Alexandra(I don't care how much were up, I'm still pressing)Ostojic, and Stephanie(don't even think of getting that loose ball.)Dremonas? .

Andrea Wensits named to All Tournament Team.

Intermediates won the High School GMMT Consolation Championship Game: beating St. Nectarios with a strong 4th quarter run. (5 out of 7 St. Nectarious players are members of ? Maine South's Varsity Boys Basketball team.)

As usual, solid performances from Bojan(yes, i can jump to the sky)Adzic, Marko(yes, I? shoot like Peja,but actually play defense) Marinkovich, and Boris(yes, I am the fastest guy on the team)Oliveric.? Great effort from all players! Honorable mention to?  Nick Marinkovich who came off the bench for 13 points to solidify our lead.

Marko Marinkovich named to All Tournament team.

Other highlights:

I just got word that Mikey Stojanovich received the green light to play basketball from his doctor this week. Congratulations Mikey on a great comeback! I know I am not the only one who breathed a sigh of relief.

ALL PRACTICES HAVE BEEN CANCELED FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK?  DUE TO CONFLICTS AND EASTER.

We have also been invited to participate in another tournament hosted by St. Elijah in Indiana. The tournament has been scheduled for the weekend of April 29. This tournament is geared towards Pee Wee's, Juniors and Intermediates.

Keep this date open, I'll keep you posted. There will probably be a dance afterwards at this tournament.
