Profile: Ryan “Dez” Desjardins, a Mount St. Joseph product, joins the Cheviot Patriots for his 7th season. As a Lion, Dez became a conference starter in 2003 to 2005 earning Conference Pitcher Of The Week, 1st Team All-Conference, 2nd Team All-Conference as well as ABCA All-Mideast Region. During the four seasons, Desjardins assisted in winning a conference championship (2003) as well as three consecutive Conference Championship births. He also leads the Mount all time pitching records in wins (23), 3rd in strike outs (139), completed games (17), and shut outs (2).

As a seven-year veteran, Dez has been a key pitcher in various roles. Ryan’s first two seasons he sheared down the competition in the league posting a .068 ERA, to back up his performances. During his career at Cheviot, Desjardins has been plagued with injury the past few years. After a two-year hiatus, Dez will be competing on the hill once again as a Patriot in 2007. A born leader, Desjardins is looking to anchor the Patriots pitching staff and will be closing out games from the bullpen, he will also get spot starts to gear him up to help the Pats win a championship.

Ryan Desjardins is not an over powering pitcher, but his ability to spot fast balls, stay ahead in the count, ailing curveball, and his ability to change speeds at key moments has helped him to become a dominating force on the mound; as proven.

“Desjardins is an exciting pitcher to watch. The way he places his pitches is incredible along with his curve ball to finish batters off. His pitching ability is phenomenal. Dez has had a successful career and is proving that he still has what it takes to compete at a high level and beyond.”- Coach Jason Miller, The College of Mount Saint Joseph

Ryan is a graduate from Colerain High School & The College of Mount St. Joseph with a Bachelors of Arts in History. During the off-season, Desjardins coaches junior varsity baseball at his alma mater, Colerain. The two years he has spent at Colerain he has helped coach them to two consecutive GMC Championship victories. Ryan is currently employed at US Bank in Colerain Township where he also resides. Son of Randall & Janis Desjardins.
