Herm Weihmeier and Smokey Burgess

1950 Cincinnati Reds Herm Weihmeier (P) and Smokey Burgess (C) after the Reds play the Cheviot squad at CMBF.
Back in the 40's and 50', the Cincinnati Reds would occasionally take on the Cheviot Nine in an exhibition game benefiting a certain cause.

Herm Weihmeier, pitching great for the Cincinnati Reds would often play in the old Tri-State League against Cheviot. On several occasions, the entire Reds squad would compete at CMBF - and from what we've been told by first hand accounts from former players, the two teams would give each other quite a battle!

In this photo, Herm Weihmeier is to the left (Pitcher), and Smokey Burgess (Catcher) is to the right. They are standing at the corner of the Fieldhouse Building in they're road grays.
