This is the unofficial site of the legendary Chester High School Boys Basketball Program located in Chester, Pennsylvania.
The Clippers have won a Pennsylvania-record 8 state championships (1983, 1989, 1994, 2000 2005, 2008, 2011 & 2012)
Chester has been state runnerup 10 times (1954, 1955, 1957, 1959, 1966, 1967, 1972, 2003 and 2007, 2013)
Since the 1981-82 season Chester has qualified for the state tournament every year except for 1991-92.
Chester has appeared in the state tournament 42 times with a record of 104 wins and 34 losses.
Chester's overall record since 1911-12 is 1,807 wins and only 714 losses.
Former Clipper great guard and long-time assistant Larry Yarbray was named Chester head coach in June 2008, replacing the legendary Fred Pickett, who announced his retirement following the 2007-2008 state championship season.
Through the 2013 season, coach Yarbray has guided the Clippers to a pair of state titles (2011 and 2012) with a record of 131-21.
During his 13-year career, Pickett amassed a 331-80 overall mark. His teams qualified for the state playoffs 13 times. During Pickett's tenure the Clippers battled in five state championship games, winning three (2000, 2005, 2008) and finishing runner-up twice (2003 and 2007).
Pickett guided the Clippers to 8 PIAA Final Fours. Under Pickett's direction, Chester won 8 District-1 Tournaments and 11 Del-Val League Championships.
He is the winningest coach in Chester High School history and Chester's first coach to win 7 consecutive District-1 Championships. He captured 10 consecutive league championships (1998-2008) and 13 consecutive 20-win seasons (1995-2008).
