Nelson Hockey to add National Bound Girls teams for the 2009-2010 season

Next year the CBHL girls teams will be National bound, what does this mean? It means the winning team for the CBHL will advance to Southeast Districts to compete with a chance to move on to the National Hockey tournament to be held in Michigan. This will be the first year for tier 2 girl’s teams to advance to Nationals, in the past only Tier one teams had the chance to advance and play at Nationals. If you are not sure this is for you why not come out to the Nelson all girls’ pre-tryout clinics and see what an exciting opportunity this is for girls. I hope to see all the girls there!

Nelson Hockey Association expands to Piney Orchard

The Chesapeake Bay Chiefs are excited to announce a merger with the Metro Maple Leafs (Nelson Hockey) beginning in the 2009-10 season. The Chiefs have been part of the youth hockey community in Maryland for over 35 years and although we will not be returning as a club next season, we feel this will benefit our players and families. The merging of these two local clubs will help secure the future of youth hockey in this area and increase our ability to provide stronger and more competitive teams. We would like to thank our past and current players, families, members, and volunteers for their loyalty and dedication to the club over the years. Without you the Chiefs organization would not have survived as long as at did. The Chiefs are in full support of Nelson and the Metro Maple Leafs and look forward to many rewarding seasons for their players and families. Additional details of the merger and information on the 2009-10 season will be posted on the Metro Maple Leafs hockey site at http://www.nelsonhockey.org/

In addition to fielding boys travel teams Nelson Hockey will fielding Girls National bound teams, next year USA Hockey will be having a girls National Bound tournament to be held in Michigan. This is a very big step for all girls to have a chance to be a part of the National bound team experience. Please check the Nelson Hockey site for more details as they are announced.
