Cherry Creek Little League: Summer 2012 Divisions

Select Season:  
T-Ball Division (4-6 year olds)
The T-Ball Division provides an instructional setting for young players to learn the fundamentals of baseball. The format for play is a combination of coach pitch and hitting from a batting tee. The season begins in May and is comprised of approximately 15 games, which are played on weekday evenings and Saturdays, primarily at Marina Park (Meadow Point Elementary School). The season concludes in late July.


A Division (5-6 year olds)
The Single A Division provides an instructional setting for young players to learn the fundamentals of baseball or build on the skills they already have acquired. Players ages 5 – 6 should have at least one prior year experience playing baseball or T-Ball. The format for play is a combination of player pitch and coach pitch. The season begins in May and is comprised of approximately 15 games, which are played on weekday evenings and Saturdays, primarily at Spring Creek Park.

The season concludes in late July. Please refer to the Calendar of Events section of this newsletter for pre-season assessment dates.


AA Division (7-8 year olds)
The Double A Division provides an instructional, yet moderately competitive, setting for young players to learn the fundamentals of baseball or build on the skills they already have acquired. Players who are 7 years old should have at least one prior year experience playing baseball. The format for play follows traditional Little League baseball rules with shortened pitching (42-foot) and base running (50-foot) distances. The season begins in May and is comprised of approximately 15 games, which are played on weekday evenings and Saturdays, primarily at Spring Creek Park. The season concludes in late July.

AAA Division ( 9-11 year olds)
The AAA Division provides an instructional, yet moderately competitive, setting for players ages 9 through 11 to learn the fundamentals of baseball or build on the skills they already have acquired. The format for play follows traditional Little League baseball rules. The season begins in May and is comprised of approximately 16 – 18 games, which are played on weekday evenings and Saturdays, primarily at Mission Viejo Park. Additional exhibition or tournament games may be played during the regular season schedule. The season concludes in late July.

Majors 9-10 Division (9-10 year olds)
The Majors 9/10 Division provides a competitive setting for players to advance their baseball skills. Players interested in participating in the Majors 9/10 Division for the first time and returning players who do not wish to remain “the property” of their previous season’s team must attend a pre-season assessment to gain eligibility for the player draft. Please refer to the Calendar of Events section of this newsletter for pre-season assessment dates.

The format for play follows traditional Little League baseball rules. The season begins in April and is comprised of approximately 16 – 18 regular season games. Additional exhibition or tournament games may be played during the regular season schedule. Games are played on weekday evenings and Saturdays, primarily at Mission Viejo Park. The regular season concludes in mid-June.

Players in the Majors 9/10 Division are eligible for selection to an All-Star Team that will participate in a postseason tournament at the District level and potentially at the State level in July. Any player who lives outside Cherry Creek Little League’s boundaries is ineligible for the All-Star Team.


Majors 11-12 Division (11-12 year olds)
The Majors 11/12 Division provides a competitive setting for players to advance their baseball skills. Players interested in participating in the Majors 11/12 Division for the first time and returning players who do not wish to remain “the property” of their previous season’s team must attend a pre-season assessment to gain eligibility for the player draft. Please refer to the Calendar of Events section of this newsletter for pre-season assessment dates.

The format for play follows traditional Little League baseball rules for a portion of the season. Cherry Creek Little League will participate in a Little League sanctioned Pilot Program for another portion of the season with a 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths. This extended field will better prepare players at this level for entry into the Juniors Division. The season begins in April and is comprised of approximately 16 – 18 regular season games. Additional exhibition or tournament games may be played during the regular season schedule. Games are played on weekday evenings and Saturdays, primarily at Mission Viejo Park. The regular season concludes in mid-June.

Players in the Majors 11/12 Division are eligible for selection to an All-Star Team that will participate in post season tournament play at the District level and potentially the State level in July. Regional and National tournaments begin in early August. Any player who lives outside Cherry Creek Little League’s boundaries is ineligible for the All-Star Team.


Junior Division (13-14 year olds)
The Junior Division provides a competitive setting for early teen players to advance their baseball skills. Players interested in participating in the Junior Division for the first time and returning players who do not wish to remain “the property” of their previous season’s team must attend a pre-season assessment to gain eligibility for the player draft. Please refer to the Calendar of Events section of this newsletter for pre-season assessment dates.

The format for play follows traditional Little League baseball rules with 90-foot base paths. The season begins in May and is comprised of approximately 15 – 18 games. Additional exhibition or tournament games may be played during the regular season schedule. Games are played on weekday evenings and Saturdays at a variety of locations. The regular season concludes in late-June.

Players in the Junior Division are eligible for selection to an All-Star Team that will participate in a post-season tournament at the District level and potentially at the State level in July. Any player who lives outside Cherry Creek Little League’s boundaries is ineligible for the All-Star Team.


Senior Division (15-16 year olds)
The Senior Division provides a competitive setting for high school players to advance their baseball skills. Players interested in participating in the Senior Division for the first time and returning players who do not wish to remain “the property” of their previous season’s team must attend a pre-season assessment to gain eligibility for the player draft. Please refer to the Calendar of Events section of this newsletter for pre-season assessment dates.

The format for play follows traditional Little League baseball rules with 90-foot base paths. Practices begin in mid-May, and games begin the first week of June. The season is comprised of approximately 15 – 18 games, and additional exhibition or tournament games may be played during the regular season schedule. Games frequently are played on Saturdays as double-headers, and some games are played on weekday evenings. The Senior Division is an inter-league division with games played at a variety of locations in the metro area. The regular season concludes in July.

Players in the Senior Division are eligible for selection to an All-Star Team that will participate in a post-season tournament at the District level and potentially at the State level in July. Any player who lives outside Cherry Creek Little League’s boundaries is ineligible for the All-Star Team.
