Saturday, September 16 CHEROKEE DEFEATS SEQUOYAH The Lady Warriors got the monkey of their back Friday night, as they defeated the Lady Chiefs 2-1. Senior Stephanie Morris was the winning pitcher moving her record to 8-1. The scoring began in the third inning when Junior Kristen Chester got an infield single with two outs. She stole second and scored as the throw got into centerfield. The centerfielder misplayed the ball allowing Chester to score. Sequoyah answered back in the fifth inning when Alisha Mills singled to lead off the inning. The Lady Chiefs sacrificed the runner to second, and two wild pitches allowed them to score. Then, in the bottom of the sixth, the fireworks came from the bat of Sophmore Sharon Swanson. Swanson homered to left field to give the Lady Warriors the lead 2-1. The Lady Warriors became the first team in school history to beat Sequoyah. Way to go ladies! |
