CheerWorkShop: In the Spotlight

Congratulations to the following cheer members who were selected to be "In the Spotlight" for the month of March because they exemplify a positive and motivated attitude and cheer spirit ON & OFF the cheer floor!

Teenie Weenie: Damekeonna Bryant 

Also known as "MeMe", she is a bundle of energy and a true leader on the Teenie-Weenie squad.  MeMe is a gifted athlete and LOVES to cheer.  She is a 6 year old 1st grader at Richard Allen Academy in Hamilton, OH.  This is her first season as a CWS Saint and she has most definitely made us proud.  She is, without a doubt, one of our up and coming All Stars. Great job MeMe!

Large Youth Level 2: Adrianna Foutch 

One of our "original" CWS Saints, Adrianna is 10 years old and is a 5th grader at Buchanan Elementary in Hamilton, OH. This is her 4th season as a CWS Saint and she is most definitely our  "Queen of the Facials", or as we call them, "Smacials" (a smile + facials). Watching her cheer will make you smile.  She has been cheering for 6 years and is very good at it.  Adrianna is a true cheerleader - in every sense of the word!  This season, she was a member of two squads and transitioned from a "non-mounter" to an outstanding base on the Lg YL 2 squad. She also reached her long-time goal of mastering her standing backhandspring and her round-off backhandspring series.  However, Adrianna is one of those rare cheerleaders in that her cheering ability was phenomenal WITHOUT the tumbling.  The addition of her tumbling has only increased her SHINE! We look forward to many more years enjoying her smile.  Congrats Wada-Wada!

Junior Level 3 NM: Nadiya Pope 

Otherwise known as the "CWS Diva", arriving to practice with her over-sized shoulder bag and side-tipped hat, Miss Nadiya is an 11 year old 6th grader at Pleasant Run Elementary in Cincinnati, OH. This is her first season as a CWS Saint and she has gracefully improved in EVERY area of cheerleading & tumbling.  Nadiya will quickly shed her "DIVA-ness" to get down to business in the gym.  She is a hard-worker and a wonderful leader.  This season, she was a member of both the Lg YL2 All star squad and the Junior L3 NM squad.  Nadiya has been a welcomed addition to the CWS family. Way to go girl!

Senior Open Level 4: Sydney Lutz 

Sydney is an 11 year old 6th grader at Fairfield Intermediate in Fairfield, OH.  She has brought her talents of tumbling and flying to CWS - and she's very good at what she does.  This is Sydney's second season as a CWS Saint, but it's like she's been with us from the beginning. She is a jokester at heart and loves to laugh.  Sydney is team-oriented and will step in (and actually HAS stepped in - at the last minute!) at any time to assist her teammates whenever needed.  She's fiesty (in a good way - smile), and is an important part of both the SOL4 All Star squad and the L5NM squad.  We look forward to future years with her. Great job Syd!

Senior Level 5 NM: Shantelle Ripley 

Shantelle is a 9 year old 4th grader at Buchanan Elementary in Hamilton, OH, and she has been a cheerleader since the age of 3!  She has cheered with the CWS Saints since its beginning, and she is a "small wonder". Shantelle was a member of both the Lg YL2 and the L5NM squads this season, which improved her versatility and enhanced her all around cheer, stunting and tumbling skills.  After having mastered Level 5 tumbling skills, Shantelle experienced a 10 month tumbling mental block, which devastated her, her coaches, and her teammates.  This season, with the encouragement from her teammates, coaches and the entire CWS family, she has been determined and committed to overcome that mental block, and has done just that!  Now, she's back - and ready to give everything she's got to make sure that CWS remains Ohio's Best! Awesome job Shannie!

Teenie-Weenies

TaKyra Jackson is a 6 yr old 1st grader at Richard Allen Academy and is a wonderful asset to the Teenie-Weenie squad.  She is a very fast learner and has the "let me show you what I can do" spirit.  She's quiet, but has an awful lot to offer in the world of cheerleading.  Great job Kyra!

Large Youth Level 2

Walyncia is 8 1/2 yrs old and is a 3rd grader at Richard Allen Academy in Hamilton, OH.  Also known as Lyncie, she is the "exception" when it comes to learning new things.  Lyncie mastered her standing backhandspring in exactly 9 days (and she'd NEVER done it before)!  She has such a sweet spirit and a natural talent for cheerleading.  She is a "poster" cheerleader - one who listens to corrective criticism with a positive attitude and eagerly applies the correction to her skills. Lyncie is most definitely an all star!  Congrats!

Junior Level 3 NM

JeLeah is a 9 yr old 4th grader at Richard Allen Academy in Hamilton, OH.  Determination and commitment should be her middle name! JeLeah would live in the gym if we'd let her. She is an all around cheerleader who strives to be the best at whatever challenge is placed before her. Way to go JeLeah!

Senior Open Level 4

Desiree is a 14 year old 8th grader at Garfield Middle School in Hamilton, OH.  This is Desiree's 1st season as a CWS Saint, and she has been a true asset to the program.  Desiree eagerly became a member of the SOL 4 All star squad during the second half of the competition season and she never looked back!  She is a wonderful cheerleader and she has improved her previous cheerleading abilities tremendously. Awesome job Desiree!

Senior Level 5 NM

Amancia is a 3rd grader at Richard Allen Academy.  Also known as "wild child", this is Amancia's 3rd season as a CWS Saint and she has progressed FAR beyond her 8 years of age!  She is a little DYNAMO and was our SUPER cheerleader this season, as she had to TRIPLE squad - and she done it all to perfection!  Amancia is a phenomenal athlete, a joy to be around, and an awesome asset to our program. Way to go Amancia!

Teenie Weenies

Alana is our little rising star Flyer!  Currently, she bases on the Teenie Weenie squad, but her Flyer career is clearly evident in the very near future!  Also known as Lanie, this is her 1st season as a member of the CWS Saints, but she is no stranger to the world of cheerleading (having two older sisters on the Level 4/5 squads). She is a 1st grader at Monroe Primary School in Monroe, OH, and is 6 years old.  She is a hard worker and is determined to master every cheer and tumbling skill possible.  At such a young age, Lanie is highly motivated and committed to doing what it takes to become an AWESOME All Star cheerleader. There's no doubt that she'll be just that - and then some! Congrats Lanie!

Large Youth Level 2 

Hannah Banana is what we call her.  She's just about the tiniest of all CWS Saints (minus her little sister, Rachel, a member of the Teenie Weenie Squad), but she has the heart of a giant! Hannah is 7 1/2 years old and is a 2nd grader at Fairfield East Elementary in Fairfield, OH. This is Hannah's 3rd season as a member of the CWS Saints. She has worked very hard to become one of our best Flyers during our first year of All Star (stunting) cheerleading!  Hannah has made it her business to be the best at what she does each and every time she hits the floor. We are looking for greater accomplishments from Hannah as she continues to increase both her tumbling and stunt skills. Way to go Hannah!

Londyn has awesome natural ability and talent and her dedication and commitment to CWS is like none other.  This is Londyn's 1st season as a member of the CWS Saints, and her accomplishments with cheer and tumbling are simply phenomenal. Londyn is 9 years old and is a 4th grader at Richard Allen Academy in Hamilton, OH.  She's a very hard worker and seeks to learn everything she can about cheerleading and tumbling.  She is most definitely a CWS shining star and we look forward to many future years of dynamic cheer and tumbling from Londyn. Keep up the great work Londyn!

Senior Open Level 4

I believe I can FLY! Yes, she can - and she does it VERY WELL!!! Courteney is an 8th grader at Ross Middle School in Ross, OH, and she is 13 years old. This is her 1st season as a member of the CWS Saints.  Also known as "little" Courteney, her "crazy" facials and flexibility have transformed her into SUPERGIRL!...It's a bird, it's a plane - no, it's just Courteney hitting any kind of stunt that she's asked to hit! Courteney is an awesome all-around cheerleader. She's committed to improving her skills so that she can offer everything she has to the betterment of the gym. Courteney is a wonderful asset to our program.  Awesome job Courteney! 

Senior Level 5 NM

Teenie Weenies

Wanetta Brown is a 1st grader at Richard Allen Academy in Hamilton, OH.  This is her first year cheering with the CWS Saints and she is doing a fantabulous job! Also know as Netta, she has such a sweet spirit and a work ethic far past her 6 years of age. She is sure to be an explosive little wonder in years to come! Congrats Netta!

5. My most exciting/memorable moment in a competition was when: my team got 1st place at our very first competition and when I performed while sick.
