what teams? Ages? How much? Allstar info for '09
Candy Girl

NEW THIS SEASON ...the ITTY BITTIES ages 2 .5, 3s & 4s! Pre team concept of babies who attend practice twice a week for an hour each practice. No travel and no competitions--just performances and exhibitions for the community. Ie Armstrong basketball games, Calvary Basketball games, Richmond hill Seafood Festival, fairs/parades. Tuition =-$55 per month.  Start up Fees = Uniform (hopefully find cheap, used, or rent ) plus $100 start up/registration for music etc.

Tinys = 4.5 -5 yrs = Tuition is $65 per month for 2 days of practice at 1.5 hours each. Uniform = $150 and start up fee is $100 for registration and music etc.  This team does compete approx 3 times!  1-2 in Savannah and one 2-day national (which would require hotel stay) and maybe 1 closeby 1-day event. Booster fees (which pays for your competition fees) are $400 per year and can be financed by making 6 monthly installments.  Download the brochure under handouts/forms icon to get complete information and to send to friends at preschool or play group!

Ages 6-19 (levels 1-5) are a part of our full blown All-Star Competition Program and no matter which level or team, we all train the same amount of time and compete at the same events. We give the same energy and passion and attention to every athlete, level, and team...minis, youth, junior, & senior.

Download the brochure under handouts/forms icon to get complete allstar information.

$$ How much does it cost? ** use can use tax returns, credit cards, sponsorships, fundraise, or even receive a scholarship to pay for your season in full! Cheer Savannah is not for every family or child. But the ones who have been other places, come here and the first things they say is--"you get what you pay for".

New Scholarship Opportunity:
**For the gifted and experienced NEW athlete (to our program), please check out our "Mr. Curry" icon to learn about a new scholarship opportunity.

New Policies for Veterans:
We are offering our own stimulus package at Cheer Savannah to help make this sport more affordable.  It is especially helpful and much less expensive for veterans.  While any traveling sport is costly, we feel that our program is less expensive than dance, gymnastics, and even club ball as many of our cheerleaders have tried those activities as well.

1. Tuition = $130 per month, $65 for siblings (half price!)
2. Booster fees (competition fees) = $600 a year (or $100 per month for 6 months)
3. Travel out of town to approx. 4 competitions and stay local here in Savannah for 1 or 2.
4. Start-up or "summer fees": you will need to purchase a uniform, and a team tshirt. All other items are optional this year in an effort to help save you money.  Practice clothes, cheer shoes, windsuits, bags etc. will all be things you MAY purchase but do NOT have to!  We will stay home for camp this summer to save that money as well.

FUNDRAISE!  with our team of moms who do what it takes to raise money, work hard, and get their kids expenses paid for though lots of effort and determination!

SPONSORSHIPS: many of our allstars find business to donate to our booster club on their behalf and pay for their entire season or competition fees. This donation is tax deductible for the business and usually it is a friend or family member or a business whereby you have a relationship and they are happy to sponsor a child who is doing positive things with their life!

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
Teams are divided based on two variables---age and skill level. Look at the age scale to see which age division your child falls under.  Every athlete must provide a copy of their birth certificate at tryouts to prove age eligibility at national competitions.  The age of the competitor as of August 31, 2009 will be the age used for competition purposes throughout the 2009-2010 season for all divisions. EXCEPTION : The cut-off date for the maximum age (18 years old) of the Senior teams will remain May 31, 2009 for the 2009-10 season.

  • 5 and under = Tiny
  • 8 and under = Mini
  • 11 and under = Youth
  • 14 and under = Junior
  • 18 and under = Senior

Our staff reserves the right to move a child to an older division if they have the maturity and skill level required.  It is our practice, however that we do everything in our power to keep the children in their respective age groups irregardless of their skill level.

Skill levels are specified by the United States All Star Federation. Teams are formed in every gym with these levels as a standard.  At competitions, teams must do the necessary skills that are set forth in these levels, and are prohibited to do skills that are of a higher level. This is a safety measure to help ensure all athletes follow the proper training and "graduate" from one level to the next without skipping tricks, training, experience, etc. All athletes will have to be TESTED AND CERTIFIED within their level in stunting, tosses, general rules and safety guidelines, in order to compete at that level.

They will get tested and certified in tumbling as well, but do not have to master the tumbling skills in order to compete at that level.  In the sport of all star cheerleading the percentage of your team that can do a trick is absolutely part of the scoring range.  So, in order to be a competitive team, nearly every child on the team must demonstrate and master the hardest tricks allowed in that level.  Our staff tries to put teams together with this in mind, but there are always exceptions to the tumbling "rule".  The USASF charges $25 per athlete to become a member and be certified.

Level 1 =cartwheels, roundoffs, backbend kickovers, front and back walkovers. (no handsprings).
Level 2 = backhandsprings
Level 3 = front and back running tucks
Level 4 = layouts, whip backs, standing backs, front throughs
Level 5 = fulls (twisting), double fulls, arabians, jump backs/jump fronts.
