SHOULDER STAND

SHOULDER STAND

This stunt requires two people, one base and one flyer. Both should be careful, for the flyer will be standing on top on the base's shoulders.

The Base:
The Base will lunge with her body facing forward and her legs out to the side.

The Flyer:
The Flyer will place her right foot into the pocket of the bases' right leg.

The Base:
The Base will reach her hands above her head and grab the hands of the flyer.

The Flyer:
The flyer will then stand up onto the leg of her base. Her leg should be locked out The flyer will then place her left leg onto the shoulder of her base. Using the bases' arms, the flyer will push herself to a standing position on her bases' shoulders, letting go of the bases' hands. Again, the flyer must have straight legs, and she must be standing straight.

The Base:
The Base will reach her arms over her head and grab the calves of the flyer, pulling the flyers legs down onto the shoulders. This gives the flyer a lot of security. Once the flyer is steady and standing on the bases' shoulders, the base will stand up straight.

Dismount:

The Base:
The Base will reach up with her hands.

The Flyer:
The Flyer will bend over at the waist and grab onto the hands of her base. The Flyer will then slowly step off the bases shoulder with one foot and then the other.

The Base:
The Base will keep pressure on the hands of the flyer and slow her down to the ground.

When to Use This Stunt:

This is a great stunt to lead cheers in! When done correctly, the flyer will feel secure enough to be able to cheer and do motions. This stunt is also a building block for further, more difficult stunts, as well as pyramids!
