5U & 6U T-Ball Playing Rules
Attention 5U & 6U Coaches: The purpose of this league is to teach proper technique of swinging a bat, throwing a ball, running bases and having fun as a team. The focus of this program shall be on proper instruction, not winning.

NO PROTESTS WILL BE ALLOWED
1. A batting roster must be prepared prior to the game listing all players present. This will be the batting order for the game with late comers added to the end of the roster. It is recommended that the coach reverse the batting order each game.
2. The batter shall hit the ball from a tee furnished by the league.
3. Ten players shall be used defensively.
4. There shall be 4 outfielders with 2 defensive coaches.
5. A player shall not remain on the bench more than one defensive half inning.
6. Time limit 1 hour. No inning shall start after 50 minutes.
7. The umpire will keep the official time.
8. The games will be played with one umpire.
9. When 1 hour expires -Game is over, regardless of the status of the inning.
10. Batters are not permitted to bunt or swing easy at the ball. Penalty: Batter
shall be called back to the plate to swing at the ball again. The ball is dead and no runners shall advance.
11. Base runners are not permitted to steal or leadoff bases. The base runner shall remain in contact with the base until the ball is hit. Penalty: The runner
will be called out.
12. When the ball is hit, runner(s) may advance as far as possible.
13. When the ball is returned to the pitcher and the pitcher returns to the rubber
with the ball, the runners may advance to the base they are going toward as
long as they are half way or more.
14. A base runner advancing to home plate must he hit in.
15. All catchers must remain against the backstop until the ball is hit off of the
tee.
16. All catchers must wear protective headgear and chest protector.
17. All batters, base runners, and on-deck batters must wear protective headgear.
18. Players are not permitted to pitch.
19. Regulation games are not more than 5 innings in duration and not more than
1 hour regardless of innings completed.
20. 7 runs per team (max.) to be allowed to score per team. The runs per inning will
be kept by the home team run monitor.
21. If sufficient players from one team are not available, players from the opposing
team may be assigned to that team for that game.

22. You must have 8 players present to begin the game. If you only have 8 players for the game, then when the 9th spot in the batting order is due to bat then that spot will be declared an out. 23. Forfeit time for a game is 10 minutes after the official time a game is scheduled to begin. If enough players show after the forfeit time has begun then that time will be counted against the official game time. 24. The fourth outfielder is to play in the outfield and not to be placed in the infield for a defensive position. 25. No balls are to be rolled to any base by a defensive player. They must be thrown to the defensive player . 26. The distance between the bases is 55 feet. 27. The umpire will keep track of the outs per inning and when three outs have been recorded then that inning is over . 28. A batter is allowed three swings to put the ball in play or is declared out. 29. Three swings at the ball without hitting the ball into play constitutes an out. Anything off of the tee is a strike (practice swing, aligning, or any move by the batter). 30. The entire roster of players present for the game shall bat. Bat the roster. 31. There is no infield fly rule. 32. There is a mandatory slide rule at all bases except, 1st base, when there is a play at that base. 33. Coaches shall not be allowed out of the dugout or coaches boxes onto the playing field unless time is asked for and granted by the umpire. 34. Coaches are allowed 2 offensive time outs per inning. 35. Games called for any reason shall be considered complete games if three innings have been completed. If games are called in less than three innings and are to be continued, they shall be continued from point of curtailment. This is due to rain, thunderstorms, lighting or any inclement weather that coaches or umpires determine will be dangerous for the players. 36. Any thrown ball that, in the umpires judgment, is uncatchable and goes into foul territory shall be ruled an overthrown ball. Time will be called and the base runners will not be allowed to advance. 37. If any ball goes into foul territory and in the umpires judgment was a catchable ball, the base runners may advance at their own risk. 38. If the ball is overthrown in fair territory then the base runners may advance at their own risk. 39. The pitcher must play behind the pitching rubber until the ball is hit off of the tee. 40. Coaches shall place the ball on the tee for the batter. The coach can tell the batter to move or align bands properly. However the coach cannot align batters to hit to certain weaker areas. 41. Any player, who in the umpires judgment, unintentionally throws the bat, the umpire shall first warn the team. Then after the next occurrence the player shall be called out. 42. Any player, who in the umpire's judgment throws the bat or any equipment in, an unsportsmanlike manner shall be ejected from the game without any prior warning.

43. The pitcher must throw the ball to a base to make a play.
Example: A ground ball that is hit back to the pitcher at the mound:
The pitcher must throw the ball to the base, not run and tag the base
or base runner .
44. A 20 ft. Fair Ball Arc will extend from the 1st baseline to the 3rd baseline. A ball
that is hit must pass that line to be considered in play.
45. A 30 ft. Safety Arc will extend from the 1st baseline to the 3rd baseline. No
defensive player is allowed to cross that line until the ball is hit and put into
play.
47. An official baseball selected by the Board is to be used for all scheduled games.
48. Players must appear in full uniform of their respective team at all scheduled league games. Anyone out of uniform will not be permitted to participate in any league games. When a player is missing either a ball cap, shirt with a number, shirttail out, etc; he/she is considered “out of uniform”. All coaches must be in appropriate dress, including ball cap and have a league issued coaching identification card visibly displayed on their person during all games. Also; no tank tops, cut-offs, flip-flops, etc. It is highly recommended that all participants wear protective cups, but it is MANDATORY that all catchers wear protective cups.
