PROTECT YOUR PLAYER
Protect Your Player
Did you know that you can hurt your child?s eligibility for the A/AA/AAA level? Do you know what equivalent classes are? Here are some things to consider when you are asked if your child can pick up with another team.
  • Your child's status is reviewed by their highest level of play. No player may play down more than 1 level from their highest level of play on an unfrozen roster. Ex. If player 1, a 9U AA player (Group 11), helps his big brothers team, an 11U AA team (Group 13), player 1 is now ineligible to play below a Group 12 team, so player 1 is now ineligible for 9U AA baseball and must play a minimum of 9U in their age.
  • If your child is on a roster on the date of freezing or after, your child may not play below that Group of teams, except at the Major level. Ex. If player 2, a 10U AA player (Group 12), helps his big brothers team, an 12U AA frozen team (Group 14), player 2 is now ineligible to play below a Group 14 team, so player 2 is now ineligible for 10U AA baseball and must play a minimum of 10U Major in their age.
  • At year end, your child will be assessed a level of play based on frozen rosters they appeared on in the prior year. In mid August, the state director will classify teams to the Major and AAA levels of play. This list may be found at http://txusssabaseball.com/northReclass.asp. Any player who appears on a teams roster on that list is now a player of that class and may only play down 1 equivalent from their highest roster they appeared frozen on. Ex. Player 3 played with the ABC?s last year and they are classed for the current year to be a 12U Major team (Group 16). That player may not play below the Group 15 level for the remainder of the USSSA year.
  • A player may always play in the highest class for their own age.
  • 6U only has only 2 classes of play, A an Major.
  • 7U, 8U and 9U have no AAA level, only A, AA, and Major. Remember to protect your child's playing level and make sure you know what level of teams they are participating with. It is your responsibility and your decisions will impact the ability of your child to play on certain teams.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  Can a coach drop a player from a Class A team?
A.  Coaches cannot "cut" a player from a Class A roster.  If a player's parent decides the player will not be at the tournament or if you know the player will be absent, you do NOT have to remove the player from your roster.  At games, you do have to bat your present roster and follow other rules regarding players playing.
Q. What makes a player Class A eligible?

A. The player must be registered with a Class A league, and play 75% of the league games.  In addition, he cannot be frozen on any Class AA or higher roster.  A Class A player cannot appear on any Class AAA or higher roster.  Please see USSSA rules for more information.

Q.  Where do I find more information on USSSA?

A. Go to www.TexasUSSSA.org

Q.  May I have information on Local Hotels?
A.  See "Local Hotel" tab to left or check
www.gpbbi.org for other local hotels.
