Upcoming School Board Meeting - Monday, November 9th at 7:30PM

Please mark your calendars for the next School Board meeting scheduled Monday, November 9, at 7:30 p.m. in the T.W. Turk Cannady Room at the Government Center.  Attached is a copy of the Petition I previously forwarded to you.  If you have not circulated, signed and returned signed Petitions to me, please take the opportunity this week through the weekend to obtain your signatures and provide them to me.  You may email them to me or let me know if you need me to arrange to pick them up.  You may also give them to me Monday night.  So far we have 37 signatures, far from what we need.  I plan to present the Petition to the Board Monday night and would like to have at least 100 signatures to start.
Also, to follow up regarding the concession situation.  I have spoken with the Parks and Recreation Center and we WILL NOT be allowed use of the concession facilities at Valley Ridge Park for softball or baseball concessions.  I was informed that the City's girls' softball association has control of those facilities and sharing them causes confusion regarding what items belong to which group, etc. and we will not have access to those facilities.  This, however, does exemplify our need for a concession trailer and I will address this in Monday night's Board Meeting.
Finally, please plan to attend this upcoming meeting.  We had about 25 baseball supporters at the last meeting but we need those and more!  We need more baseball parents, players and supporters, as well as softball, soccer and any other other support groups we can get. I can only reach out to so many people.  Please reach out to your circle of family, friends and supporters to support us.  In addition, if any of you would like to address the Board in support of our initiatives, by all means, please do.  You will be given five minutes to make your comments and all you need to do is fill out a short form and turn it in to the Board prior to the meeting.  Freshman and sophomore parents...we really need your input regarding the support for the Sports Complex.  It is our kids that will most likely benefit from this.
Please let me know if you have any questions.  Hope to see you ALL at the meeting on November 9th!

ATTENTION
COACHES PLEASE READ!!

Coaches do not call the Cedar Hill Parks and Recreation office for rainout information.  Coaches must call the rainout line!!! The Cedar Hill Parks and Recreation Department will inspect field conditions on days when weather threatens practice or games.  The rainout line is updated by 3:30 pm on said days.  More important is that calls not be made to the rainout line prior to 3:30 pm so the line can be updated.  An abundance of calls will not allow the Department to update the line thus delaying rainout information.

Coaches, PLEASE, if you will NOT be using your assigned lighted practice times, please email Nema House or call John Hurst before 2:00 pm that day and let them know so the Parks Department can be notified to turn the lights off, even if it's for one evening.  The Cedar Hill Parks and Recreation Department will not continue to provide lighted fields if the lights are on and no one is using them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  Can a coach drop a player from a Class A team?
A.  Coaches cannot "cut" a player from a Class A roster.  If a player's parent decides the player will not be at the tournament or if you know the player will be absent, you do NOT have to remove the player from your roster.  At games, you do have to bat your present roster and follow other rules regarding players playing.
Q. What makes a player Class A eligible?

A. The player must be registered with a Class A league, and play 75% of the league games.  In addition, he cannot be frozen on any Class AA or higher roster.  A Class A player cannot appear on any Class AAA or higher roster.  Please see USSSA rules for more information.

Q.  Where do I find more information on USSSA?

A. Go to www.TexasUSSSA.org

Q.  May I have information on Local Hotels?
A.  See "Local Hotel" tab to left or check
www.gpbbi.org for other local hotels.
