A cool summer job - Be an Umpire
Are you thinking about how to make a couple of dollars this summer. Well, this may be the answer for you. Just think about it. Where would you be able to find a job that enables you to be the boss for a full two hours of every adult and girl on the field and get paid for it. Sounds cool eh! You can do it if your are a minimum of 14 years of age and willing to learn, have some fun and make a little dough.

Persons who are interested in umpiring for the Chat-O-Cats Summer 2007 Season, please contact Pascale Rocco at 691-3220.

Hi, I am an Umpire for Chat-O-Cats.

Hi
I am an umpire. Most of the umps in our league are also players in the Benjamin and Cadet divisions. I am a Cadet division player. I’m not allowed to umpire my own level, for obvious reasons. This makes it difficult for our Umpire in Chief to schedule umps for our level, so she has to use adults to do most of our games. I enjoy umpiring because it teaches me to be responsible, assertive and it helps me make a few dollars during the summer. However, there is a down side, some of my friends quit every year because some coaches and spectators, who are supposed to be the adults around here, verbally abuse us and that part of the job is discouraging. All I have to say to those people is remember, your daughter may want to umpire one day, just like me and I don’t think you would like to see your daughter subjected to the same abuse. So please think before you speak and stop spitting those poison darts. After all, it’s just a game and we all make mistakes, umps and players alike Try and ump a game one day, if your brave enough, and you’ll see what I mean. Anyway, I enjoy myself most of the time and that’s what counts.I hope everyone has a terrific summer.
