Charlton Claims 2-AA Title With Win Over MCA
Charlton Co. rallied back from a 22-16 deficit to score 26 unanswered points to defeat McIntosh Co. Academy 42-22 to claim the Region 2-AA Championship. The Buccaneers jumped out to a 7-0 lead at the 8:28 mark of the 1st quarter on a 64 yard run. The Indians would answer back when QB Chris Milton scored on a one yard run. Tre Hamilton's PAT run put Charlton up 8-7. On the last play of the 1st quarter the Tribe would add to their lead when Milton hit Ronald Eldell from 43 yards out. Kesean Peterson caught the 2 point pass and the Tribe led 16-7. The Bucs would take the lead 22-16 with a one yard run and a 26 yard run. An interception at the one yard line just prior to to half seemed to thwart the Indians but on MCA's first play after the pick the Tribe recovered a fumble that would lead to a Milton 2 yard run with just 10 seconds remaining in the half. The PAT failed and the half ended deadlocked at 22-22. After a scoreless 3rd quarter the Indians scored at the 11:24 mark when Hamilton crashed over from one yard out. The PAT run failed so the lead was now 28-22. With 10:02 remaining Hamilton scored his 2nd TD when he broke free for a 40 yard yard run. Peterson again caught the PAT pass to make the score 36-22 in favor of the Tribe. With 4:18 left Milton found Donovan Bolden down the sideline for an 18 yard TD to make the final 42-22. Milton was 17-23 passing for 222 yards and two TD's while adding 103 yards rushing and two more scores. Hamilton led the rushing attack with 144 yards on the ground. Ronald Eldell caught 6 passes for 112 yards. Defensively, Wyatt Johnson recorded 2 QB sacks, Al McArthur recoverd a fumble, while Chris Milton and Kesean Peterson each had interceptions.
