Tribe Wins Homecoming 40-24
QB Chris Milton passed for 269 yards and 4 TD's while adding another on the ground leading the Charlton Co. Indians to a 40-24 homecoming win over the Benedictine Cadets. The Cadets jumped out to an early 7-0 lead on a 20 yard run at the 9:39 mark of the opening quarter. Charlton answered right back when Milton found Donovan Bolden on a 21 yard scoring strike. Milton's PAT run gave the Indians a lead they would never relinquish. With 31 seconds left in the 1st quarter Ronald Eldell hauled in a 21 yard TD pass from Milton and Tre Hamilton's PAT run made it 16-7 in favor of Charlton. At the 7:46 mark of the 2nd quarter Benedictine scored again on a 5 yard run to cut the lead to 16-14. Less than a minute late Milton connected with Bolden again this time from 47 yards to increase the lead to 22-14. With 1:11 remaining in the half Milton scooted in from 4 yards and Hamilton added the PAT run to make the halftime score 30-14. The Indians would fumble the 2nd half kickoff and the Cadets had to drive only 6 yards to cut the lead to 30-21. Two more Indian turnovers presented scoring oppurtunities for Benedictine but a 47 yard field goal was no good and a 21 yard attempt was blocked by Hamp Wildes. With 6:36 left in the game the Tribe got a safety when the Cadets were called for intentional grounding inn the end zone. Twelve seconds later after an unsuccessful onsides kick attempt Milton found an open Timothy Hamlette in the end zone from 34 yards out. Kesean Peterson added the 2 point conversion to make it 40-21. The Cadets finished out the scoring with 1:53 left on a 36 yard FG to make the final score 40-24. Leading receivers were Bolden with 4 catches for 95 yards, Peterson(4-56), Eldell(3-64), and Hamlette(2-54). Defensively Wildes and Wyatt Johnson each recorded QB sacks.
