Indians Roll Over Appling Co. 42-7
The Charlton Co. offense rolled up 489 yards of offense and the defense kept the Pirates off the scoreboard until late in the 4th quarter to claim a 42-7 win in Region 2-AA action. Playing most of the game without RB Tre Hamilton the Indians went to the air for 282 yards from QB Chris Milton. Milton led the rushing attack with 86 of the 207 yards gained by the Tribe. The Indians got on the board first when Andy Crews caught a defelected pass for a 17 yard TD with 2:15 left in the opening quarter. Kesean Peterson added the 2-point try to give the Indians an 8-0 lead. With 4:47 left in the half Milton found paydirt from 7 yards out to give Charlton a 14-0 halftime lead. The Tribe took the opening kickoff and burned off almost 7 and a half minutes culminating with a Milton 2 yard run. Tim Hamlette added the 2 point conversion for a 22-0 lead. At the 11:26 mark of the 4th quarter Tim Hamlette caught a short pass and sprinted 65 yards for a score. Peterson again added the conversion to increase the lead to 30-0. With 3:49 remaining RB Tony Hamlette sprinted 49 yards for a score to make it 36-0. At the 2:44 mark Appling finally got on the board with a 60 yard run to make it 36-7. Charlton added it's final points with 36 seconds left when backup QB Timothy Wescott scored from 3 yards out to make the final 42 7. Tim Hamlette led the receiving corps with 4 catches for 141 yards. Donovan Bolden added 8 catches for 76 yards while Kesean Peterson caught 6 for 47 yards. Suave Bolden, Frederick Lambert, and Tim Hamlette each recorded 5 stops each. Wyatt Johnson and Tim Hamlette each recovered a fumble for the Indians.
