Help Support the Locker Project
Dear Indian Supporters and Alumni:
On Thursday, August 15, 2013, the Indian Football team moved into a much needed, new Field House. This facility was built through the SPLOST fund voted on by the Citizens of Charlton County. This was made possible through the leadership of Dr. John Lairsey and the Charlton County School Board.
The Charlton County Quarterback Club stepped up and purchased 75 lockers to furnish the facility. These lockers were at a cost of $40,000. In an effort to defer some of the cost the Quarterback Club is giving an opportunity to place a permanent sponsorship plaque in a locker. These plaques are custom made and can have any information you desire. You can dedicate the locker to a former player, yourself, a coach, a student, a supporter, a business, memorial, or any other organization.. You can have any saying from “Go Indians” to “Expect to Win” to any other motivational saying you wish. If you are interested in sponsoring a locker, the tax-deductable price is $200 dollars. Please feel free to contact Coach Rich McWhorter at 912-282-9219, or Brian Huling at 912-496-7351.

Donley in 2005 against Fitzgerald.

Also defensive lineman Will Gowen tied the record for most quarterback sacks in a game with four matching the record set by current CCHS defensive coordinator Norris Woods, who performed the feat against Irwin Co. in 2001.

Indians Drop Scrimmage at Pierce Co. 28-18

The Charlton Co. Indians dropped a 28-18 decision to Pierce Co. Friday night in a preseason scrimmage game in Blackshear. The action was marred by sloppy, wet field conditions as the scrimmages was played in rain throughout.

The Tribe got a five yard run by quarterback Trae Harrington to go along with two Harrington touchdown passes that went to Tevis Dasher(10 yards), and Daveron Reed(24 yards) for the Indians scoring.

The scrimmage saw 80 pass attempts combined by both squads. Harrington passed for 220 yards while Pierce had 172 yards through the air. Scott Birchall was the leader pass catcher with seven receptions for 61 yards while Curt Nixon(64 yards), Dasher(47 yards), and Reed(41 yards) all got involved in the passing game. Harrington added 55 yards on the ground while the Indian defense limited the Bears to just 43 rushing yards.

Defensively the Indians played well for the most part but gave up too many big plays in third down situations. Drake Gillis recovered a Bear fumble while Curt Nixon intercepted a Pierce pass. Brandon Dell registered two quarterback sacks while Mookie Smith and Gillis split a sack.

The Indians will now get back to work and continue to strive to make improvements in anticipation of the regular season opener against Brantley Co. on August 30th at Indian Field.
