Rob Emory to Return to Reds in 2009

Charleston Reds Logo
The Charleston Reds announced today via satellite that former two-time Manager of the year (2006-2007) and 2008 opening day centerfielder Rob Emory will return to Reds for the 2009 season. The press conference was held at Hooters in Penrith, one of just 3 Hooters in Australia. Emory has spent the last year exploring options abroad after a contract dispute with current Reds manager Steve Sher. The Reds declined to comment on whether Emory will resume his manager position. Emory was quoted as saying, "I am excited to be rejoining a world class baseball organization. Cricket sucks!"

Reds On Five Game Win Streak

Do to nothing other than my laziness, the board is a little behind.  The good news, the Reds seem to have found that winning form again, and have now rolled off five wins in a row.  The Reds now sit at 8-4 after knocking off the first place A's 7-4 last night.

A quick recap to catch up on the last four games.

Reds 8 - Diamondbacks 3  Shawn Bradley got the win pitching a complete game.

Reds 5 - Cubs 2  Reds win shorthanded.  Joey Pet Rides with the win.

Reds 7 - A's 4  B"rad" Fraizer complete game for the win, Big Mike gets his first Homer!

Told you it'd be quick.  Reds take off the weekend for July 4th and will return to action Wed the 9th against the 2nd place Orioles.

Wednesday, June 18
Reds Get Back to Even

With a 6-0 win Sunday against the Astros, the Reds get back to the

.500 mark at 4-4.   Joe Hoertererer hit a BOMB!  Goooo Joe!

Wednesday, June 18
Reds Drop Third Straight

With a 7-1 loss to the Orioles, the Reds have now equaled last years regular season loss total only 7 games into the season.  Andrew Knight pitched great, but got victimized in the top of the 7th for a couple runs.  The Reds could not stop the bleeding, and could not mount a come back in the bottom half.

Tuesday, June 10
Reds drop another

The Charleston Red's, playing in their second game in as many days dropped a hard fought game to the Mets last night 8-6.  Leading 4-3 going into the bottom of the 6th inning, the Mets capitalized on an early questionable call at first to tie the game, a couple Reds errors and some timely hitting to open the game 8-4.  The Reds made a valient effort at a comeback in the 9th loading the bases and scoring 2 runs to close the gap, but fell short in the end.

The Reds will try and get back on track Wed night against the Orioles.

Monday, June 9
Reds get embarrassed!!!!

Or at least embarrassed themselves.  If Sunday nights game versus the league leading A's is any indication, dem boys is good, and the Reds SUCK!  The Reds allowed 6 runs in the first off numerous errors, and things got worse from there.  It was ugly, plain ugly!!

Friday, June 6
Reds back to the winning side

The Charleston Reds returned to the win column Thursday with a win over the newest CMABL team, the Nationals.  The Reds not only had to score more runs than the Nats for the win, but also had to win after the game as the Nats played it under protest!!  The score keeper, who informed me she was coaching baseball twice as long as I'd been playing it, informed me and everyone else that had never heard this before, that if a player enters the game as a "pinch hitter", he may bat one time and may NOT remain in the game as a substitute.  Evendently the powers to be for the CMABL also do not agree with the Nats rules expert on this, and the win stood for the Reds.  Wheeeew, that was close.  Oh, not the game though, Reds win 11-5.

Sunday, June 1
Reds lose in extra innings

The Charleston Reds lost their first game of the season Sunday to the Cubs in 11 innings.  The quote from the Reds heard most was, "We suck!"

Friday, May 23
Reds win again!!

The Reds notched another shut out victory Thursday night behind a strong pitching performance from Brad "no, no-no" Frazier, who took a no hitter 6 2/3 innings when a ground ball was ROCKETED past Frazier and inches from the glove of a diving Steve Sher to get into the outfield for one of the Diamondback only two hits.  Frazier also struck out 12.

We like the Charleston Reds!
