Charleston Playmakers: Welcome

Welcome to the Official Webpage of the Charleston Playmakers!

The Charleston Playmakers were formally created in 2011 to give middle school males an opportunity to excel on the basketball court as well as in the classroom and in life.
In 2011, our first year as an AAU program- our 7th and 8th graders combined forces and qualified for the national tournament in Orlando, FLA. The Charleston Playmakers were the only team in the Low Country to qualify and represented Charleston well.
In 2012 the Playmakers will expland slightly to incorporate teams for young men in 7th, 8th, and 9th grades. We hope that you will look around, donate to the team, and help us change lives for the young men in North Charleston, SC.

POWER-ful Statement:

Charleston Playmakers Qualify Early!

Augusta, Ga

The  Playmakers traveled to Augusta, Ga for an early season AAU Super Regional tournament with the hopes of qualifying for nationals early.  With a win against the Adidas sponsored TEAM POWER during the quarter-final round of bracklet play, the Playmakers secured a bid to 15U Nationals in Little Rock, Ark in July.

The Playmakers trailed much of the game against Team Power but continued to play hard defense which eventually became too much for the Power to handle. With 10 seconds to go, the Playmakers trailed by one point. Coach Brandon Smalls called a timeout and drew up a play. The ball was in bounded to point guard Diamonte Gailliard who was trapped by good Team Power defense. Guard Therin Levine came and got the ball at the top of the three point arc. Levine dribbled towards the basket, releasing a last second shot as the buzzer sounded. The Playmakers won 62-61.
