CUBS TAKE SERIES FROM NATIONALS
THERE WAS ALOT MORE TALKING THAN PLAYING FROM SELECT NATIONAL PLAYERS.  CUBS TAKE SERIES WIN IN GAME 3 WITH A NO SHOW FROM THE OPPONENTS!!!  "I WOULDNT HAVE SHOWN UP EITHER"

CUBS MAKE FIRST PLAYOFF SHOWING IN A WHILE!!!

Led by new faces and old aswell,  The Charleston Cubs enter the 2008 playoffs with high hopes.  With good pitching and timely hitting the Cubs could suprise alot of teams...



Friday, July 25
Cubs take over #3 in win over the Reds(full bench)

Matthews came out the gate a little too loose, but shut the door on the Reds after a one run first.  Striking out 11 through the next 6 innings.  Improving his record to 4-0. 

Matthews W(4-0), 1 run, 2 hits, and also 2-3 with an rbi.

Jonothon Brunson,  went 3-3! 2 2b's, 1 3b, and 3rbis!!!

Ralphe Nolen 1-2, 2b 1rbi, 1 run 

Brad Levander 2-3, 1 rbi, 1 stolen base, and 2 runs.

Neil Lauri 1-2, bb, 1rbi, 3 runs.

Sean Bernard, 1-3 run scored

Doug Marlowe, 1-3

Warrick Mczeke, 1-3, stolen base.



Sunday, July 20
Cubs led by Herron take down Orioles.

Logan Herron threw 6 strong innings, allowing only two earned runs.  Roger Farr also contributed 3 hits in as many at bats, going 3 for 3 with 4 stolen bases and 2 runs!  Cubs look ahead to contend the Reds for the 3 spot in the division!



Wednesday, July 9
Matthews, Bernard and Team take down Astros for their 3rd Straight win

Jared Matthews pitched a complete game outing striking out 13, and allowing only 2 hits.  Sean Bernard went 2 for 3 with his 3rd homerun of the season.  Astros Starting pitcher started really strong but due to lack of pitchers the Cubs were able to jump on late

Doug Marlowe 1 for 3, 2B, 1rbi.

Jared Matthews W(2)  7innings pitched, 13 k's 1for 3, rbi.

Neil Lauri 2 for 3, with two solid singles.

Wednesday, July 2
Matthews, Levander and Team shut down the Mets

Starting pitcher Matthews dominated throughout 5 inning allowing no runs and striking out 8.  While Brad Levander came in to the game and stopped any and all momentum the Mets had going.

Roger Farr, 1-3, with a big rbi.

Robert Doyle, 2-3, BB

Sean Bernard, 2-3, 1B, 2B and 2rbi's

Doug marlowe, 1-3, 2B, rbi and sacrifice fly.

Brad Levander had a solid single with 2 stolen bases.

Warrick McZeke, had a single, a stolen base.

Mike Harding, had a key pinch hit single, with 2rbi's.

Neil Lauri also scored 3 times

Ralphe Nolen went 2-4 with a huge rbi.

Cubs led by Levander and Doyle overtake Diamondbacks

Starting pitcher Robert Doyle had a brilliant Complete game outing.  Brad levander sealed the Cubs 5th win with a blistering 3 run jack in the 5th.

Reds overtake Cubs 5-2
Cubs starting pitcher dominated four straight innings but the bats and arms couldnt seal the 2nd win against reds.

Orioles jump out early but rain saves Cubs

Rain causes a reshedule for another date, fresh 0-0 start.

Cubs fall short of division leader Athletics
Cubs lose only second game in the last 6 played, but the cubs keep their heads up and arms loose to take on the Orioles on Sunday.

Cubs Walk off with a 15-4 win over the Nationals

Cubs offense and defense ingnites again this time behind Pitcher Doug Marlowe for their 4th win in 5 games.  Doug Marlowe pitched a Complete game outing giving up just 5 hits, while also helping himself at the plate.  Going 2-4 with his first Homerun of the season.

Cubs offense Ignites against mets securing 3rd straight win

Behind a one hit combined pitching performance by Jared Matthews and Doug Marlowe, the cubs offense exploded for a fairly easy 12-0 victory.  Led by clean up hitter Sean Bernard who was 3-3 with his second Home Run of the year, and Scott Yancey with his first.

Jonothon Brunson 1 for 3 with a triple

Sean Bernard 3 for 3 with a HR, 2B, and 3rbi's.

 R.J. Milford 1 for 2 with 2 runs, and a Sac fly.

Scott Yancey 1 for 1 with a Hr, 2rbi's, and a HBP

Neil Lauri 1 for 2 with 2rbi's and a HBP(intentional??)

Brad Levander led off with a walk, a stolen base and scored on Bernard's bomb.

Warrick McZeke with a sac fly, rbi.

Mike Harding with a solid single, rbi.



Thursday, June 5
Cubs win two straight
Cubs finished off their second straight win against the diamond backs, the cubs were powered by strong pitching performances by Jared Matthews and Brad Levander.  Also the offense was powered with home runs by cubs First Baseman Ralphe Nolen and Outfielder Sean Bernard.  Bryant Blanton went 3 for 4,  Doug Marlowe 2 for 4 with an RBI, Roger Farr 1 for 2 with an RBI. and R.J. Milford had a key drag bunt single in the Eighth to help insure the win.

Cubs overtake Reds in tough 11 inning battle
Cubs get their first win against the tough Reds in a stunning 11 inning battle.  Cubs Pitcher Robert Doyle recieves the win, while pitchers Doug Marlowe and Ralphe Nolen kept the game close.  Sean Bernard went 2 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored.  Jonothon Brunson went 2 for 5 with two doubles, a RBI and a run scored.  Doug Marlowe started and pitched 6 strong.  Also helping himself with a single and an RBI.  Ralphe Nolen also went 1-2 with 1BB and a HBP..

Scrimmage Sunday, May 4, 2008 @1p.m. at Springfield

***********This Sunday May 4, 2008 @ 1P.M. AT SPRINGFIELD, there will be our 2nd to last scrimmage before regular season games start!!!!  This is everyones final oppurtunity to turn in the remainder of the team fees.  The money was due yesterday, but I had only two players make the effort to turn in their fees.  SIMPLY IF YOU DONT PAY YOU DONT PLAY!!!!!.  Jerseys will also be handed out prior to game time...***********

Cubs second scrimmage is set for this Sunday, April 20, 2008.  Alston Middle School, Field Behind the school.

First Scrimmage set to go Sunday April 13th

First scrimage for the Charleston Cubs will be set for this Sunday April the 13th.  All Players will be required to bring some kind of money towards their required $200 League fee.

The start of the 2008 season is nearing and the Charleston Cubs are set to begin early season practice
The Cubs have made their preseason selections towards their new and improved roster.  With new names and new talents the Cubs look to do some damage come season beginning!
