Baseball Opening Weekend

This was Opening weekend for the Chargers baseball program.  It was interesting to say the least.  The 10 Under picked up where they left off last year with a convincing win over Wildcats.  They had both good pitching and hitting.  The 12 were surprised by Ivy Hill, our pitchers walk some runners and gave away some runs.  But the 12's were making a comeback at Ivy Hill before finally losing the game.  The 15 played Olney, our pitchers got hit early and the catcher broke his thumb (Lorenz aka Nature).  We finally settle down but lost the game.  It was a fun filled weekend. Both teams went back and forth with neither being able to move the ball. Gators pinned the Chargers deep at the 1 yard line on a 50 yard punt. The Gators got a safety on the next play bring the score to 14-7. The safety woke the Chargers up. The Charger then scored 3 unanswered TD in the 4th to take a commanding 27-14 league. The 3 touchdown consisted of a 4 yard scamper, a pick 6 and a 40 yard run while trying to run clock. With 19 seconds left in the game, Gators caught a controversial hail mary pass in the end zone. This brought the score to 27-20.  They missed the extra point and on the insuing kick off the onside kick only went 5 yards basically ending the game. Good game by both team. Next up is the Cherry Hill Eagles of Maryland on Saturday at 7pm at Charger Super site.
