CKSC U9/U10 Academy

CKSC is proud to be starting the U9/U10 Academy team this fall. We would like for you to join us as we begin our first Development Academy for the club in hopes of improving the future of both Kentucky and United States youth soccer.

WHAT IS A DEVLOPMENT ACADEMY?-          The Academy is a concept that is based on the professional soccer club systems from around the world. An Academy is when a club/association keeps a selection of players within an age group as opposed to placing them on individual teams. Academies do not cut players upon try-outs, instead focusing on keeping all players to develop their skills and abilities as much as possible.

ACADEMIES FOCUS MOST EXTENSIVELY ON:-          Player Developmento        The Academy approach accommodates and accepts that younger players still have a lot of learning and growing to do within the game and recognize that putting them in an environment where they would receive more training than matches id developmentally appropriate. This approach allows clubs to keep players in larger pools, foster development over winning, and let these young players play freely. This Developmental Academy approach is “Player-Centered.”

WHAT DEVELOPMENT ACADEMIES CONSIST OF:-          Training 1-2 times a week, with a focus on:o        Technical Emphasis – Dribbling, Passing, Receiving, Shooting/Finishing, Juggling, Goalkeeping   o        Tactical Emphasis – Possession vs Penetration, Combination play, Role of Support and Pressureo        Psychological Emphasis – Positivity, Encouragement, FUN!o        Fitness – Getting better w/ the ball, Running Mechanics, Range of Motion activities-          “Play Dates” with other clubso        About every 3 weeks, the CKSC Academy will either host or attend a “Play Date” with another club’s Academy in the state of Kentucky. These “Play Dates” will consist of 2-3 games spread out over a few hours.

CKSC Club Picture Day - 5/12/09

CKSC Club 2009

Since CKSC began we've steadily been growing as a club.  This is in part due to the popularity of soccer, and partly I think because CKSC offers a service that people value.  This spring we've grown to a record number of players (^200) and teams (13) so I'll call that a 'win' for CKSC.

To document the achievement, I would like to take a picture of the club in it's entirety.  This has never been done before so it's a little daunting, but with a little planning and some good fortune (no rain) I think it will work out OK.

The plan... everyone show up at the Mill Park Football field on Tuesday, May 12th and we'll take a "club" picture.  The time for the picture is 5:30pm, so please show up a little before this in order to get everyone positioned.  Coaches, Asst Coaches, Team Mgrs, Club Officers and of course the players will be included.  Girls should wear their red jerseys & game shorts, and boys wear white jerseys and game shorts.

I don't like to use the word mandatory, but I strongly request everyone to come.  We'll take the picture, and let everyone go as fast as possible as some teams have practice that night.  Michael Hawkins will be taking the picture and if any team wants to set up team or individual pictures please set this up directly with Michael.

Thanks to everyone for participating in CKSC and making this a memorable season.

CKSC U18 Girls Win Bracket at the Germantown Showcase

With 175 College Coaches in attendance, the Germantown Showcase was a tremendous event for the CKSC U18 girls just to experience.  Approximately 150 girls teams ages U16-U19 from all over the U.S. descended upon the Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Memphis, TN and filled all 17 bermuda fields throughout the weekend of December 13-14.  And the girls took full advantage by going into the tournament untested and unranked and pulling out two victories over ranked opponents, while losing one.

Get Your CKSC Patches Now!!!!

Hello Everyone,

The U13 Boys are going to sell CKSC logo patches as a fund raiser to place a CKSC sign at the Dana playing fields.  Depending on the quantity that we purchase they will cost the parents $2.50-$3.00 for a 2 1/2" embroidered patch of our logo with a heat seal backing (it can be ironed on or sewn on). I think the kids will want to put them on sweat suits, their backpacks and possibly hats. I think they will work well for polo or windshirts. I am contacting the team managers to ask if their parents would like to purchase the patch. If we can get an idea of the number of patches they would like we can go ahead and place an order. If your team is interested please email your team name and the number you would like to order. Thanks everyone.

Do you believe in miracles?  It wasn't quite all that, but surely most considered our CKSC U14 girls to be the underdogs at the State Cup this past weekend at the Lovers Lane Soccer Complex in Bowling Green.  On Saturday, the girls held off a strong Javanon team 2-1 to start off the spectacular weekend.  Then on Sunday, they more than handled LFC by winning the cup 2-0.

 Way to go Lightning!!!!!!

And for his efforts, Danny Collier has been selected as KYSA's Coach of the Year!!!
