Melton Signs with Texas A & M Hunter Melton, a senior at Corsicana High School signed his national letter of intent to play baseball at Texas A & M. Tuesday, March 8 Rawlings Pre-Season Teams Congratulations to Matthew Kent, Nik Castilleja, and Jacoby Middleton for being named to the 2011 Rawlings Pre-Season All Region Texas Senior All High School Teams. Matthew Kent was named to the 2nd team while Nik Castilleja and Jacoby Middleton were named to the Honorable Mention teams. Sunday, November 14 World Series Win TSL 18U World Series Champions!! The Buzz won the Texas Showcase League World Series on Nov. 13-14, 2010 in Waco. The team went 4-0 on the weekend in route to the championship. This championship capped off an undefeated Fall season! Way to go BUZZ!!!!!
WWBA Championships Hunter Melton and Matthew Kent traveled to Jupiter, Florida on October 21-25, 2010 to showcase their talents in the World Wood Bat Association Tournament hosted by Perfect Game. Hunter played with the Dallas Tigers and Matthew played with the Ohio Warhawks. The 2010 WWBA World Championship consisted of 85 of the elite travel/scout teams from across the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. This tournament has become the top scouting attraction in all of amateur baseball. Almost every top prospect in the country attends each year, along with 700 or more MLB scouts and college coaches.

Beard - Baylor Sunday, August 8 Road to the Majors Jacoby Middleton and Matthew Kent were invited to the 14th annual Texas Scouts Association Invitational at Ranger Ballpark in Arlington. The players and their families had dinner at the Diamond Club inside the Arlington Ballpark where they mingled with the 30 MLB scouts and the 2 Scouting Bureau directors in a casual atmosphere. The players then showcased their talents in front of the MLB scouts in a MLB workout and scrimmage game. These scouts are responsible for locating MLB talent in Texas and Oklahoma.
Thursday, August 5 Buzz Wins TSL 17U World Series The Centex Buzz completed the summer 2010 season with a 7-0 tournament run to capture the 17U Texas Showcase League World Series. The Buzz outscored their opponents 62-9 in the 7 games. The Buzz defeated the Gladiators 9-4 in the Championship Game held at Baylor Ballpark.
Wednesday, June 16 Area Code Congratulations to Nik Castilleja, Jacoby Middleton, Hunter Melton, and Matthew Kent for being invited to the prestigous Texas Rangers area code team tryouts. This is their second year for this honor!
Arizona Fall Classic 2009
Matthew Kent, Hunter Melton, and Ty Culbreth recently attended the Arizona Junior Fall Classic in Peoria, Arizona on October 22-25, 2009. They were invited to play with ABA Team Texas in the annual baseball showcase which draws college and pro baseball scouts to the area. Matthew Kent is a junior who attends Midway High. Hunter Melton is a sophmore who attends Corsicana High. Ty Culbreth is a sophmore who attends Bryan High.
Matthew Kent was also chosen to play in the Academic All Star game held for students with a high GPA and athletic talent to showcase in front of academically rigorous schools.

Watch Out! While batting in a game at the Arizona Fall Classic, Hunter Melton followed through on a swing and released the bat, sending it flying high over the 3rd base dugout and into the opposing bull pen. Thankfully, no one was in the landing area when the bat came down. Hunter might consider a future in javelin, discus, or hammer throw!!!
Monday, August 3 Buzz Wins World Series The 16U Centex Buzz won the Texas Showcase League (TSL) World Series held in Ft. Worth on July 28-Aug. 2, 2009. The team went 6-0-1 during the tournament to capture the title. The Buzz defeated the Dallas Angels 4-3 in the championship game. Congratulations BUZZ!! Tuesday, June 23 Area Code Participants Jacoby Middleton, Derrick Hadley, and Matthew Kent were each invited to participate in the Texas Rangers Area Code team tryouts. There were 200+ 2010 and 2011 grads invited to tryout at Weatherford College. The group was narrowed to 30 players. Another tryout is being held at Baseball USA and another 30 players will be chosen from which the final Area Code team will be chosen. In order to be invited to the tryout, a professional scout had to recommend the player after watching them play. Congratulations to these Buzz players on their invite and representation of the Buzz organization in the process.

Tuesday, October 21 Buzz Play Houston Power 18 to a Draw The Centex Buzz were co-champions of the Texas Wood Bat Tournament (Battle of the Bats) on October 18-19, 2008 in Brenham. The team tied the Houston Power 18U team 3-3 in 11 innings. For complete story, see game score summary.
Monday, September 22 Buzz Wins Killeen Tournament The Centex Buzz 16U team won the 18U Killeen Central Texas Select Baseball Tournament on September 20-21, 2008. The team went 5-0 on the weekend in a bracket of 14 teams. Way to go BUZZ!!!

Monday, September 1 Buzz Wins Championship The 16U Centex Buzz won the 18U Triple Crown Metroplex Labor Day Classic on August 30-31, 2008 in Euless, TX. The team went 4-0 on the weekend, outscoring their opponents 41 to 12 in the 4 games. The Championship game went extra innings!!!
Sunday, September 7 Buzz Wins Double Header The Centex Buzz defeated the MLB Royals Scout team 6-4 and 4-1 in a double header at Hill College on September 7th. Monday, July 28 Tournament Centex Buzz won the Houston Invitational 18U tournament on August 2-3, 2008. The team went 4-0 on the weekend and played through extreme heat to capture the title.

Sunday, October 22 Buzz Wins Triple Crown The Centex Buzz 14U baseball team won the Triple Crown Iron Horse Tournament in Georgetown, TX on October 21-22, 2006. They went 5-0 on the weekend and run-ruled all opponents. They scored 69 runs and only allowed 8 runs in the 5 games. The Centex Buzz now have a 21-1-0 record for the fall season with 4 tournament wins and one 2nd place finish.
Sunday, October 22 Buzz Wins Tara The Buzz successfully defended their TARA SAWYER memorial tournament title from last fall with a tournament win. The tournament was played in Euless, TX. The team went 5-0 on their way to a tournament win. Way to play Buzz! Monday, October 2 Buzz 14U Places 2nd at BBI The Centex Buzz took 2nd place to the Dallas Mustangs in a USSSA tournament at BBI. Saturday, September 9 Cancer Free!!! Our teammate and friend, Devin Fair, has received a clean bill of health after a year long battle with Ewing Sarcoma. Devin finshed his last aggressive chemo treatment and underwent tests to determine if he would need any further treatment. The good news is that he is Cancer free. Congratulations Devin-you won!!!
