Centennial Huskies: Welcome
Hello all,
My name is Martin Woods and I just completed my 5th season as the Head Coach of the Lady Huskies I would like to thank Mr. Roberts, our Principal, and our Athletic Director, Bill Gunn for support of the program.
We just completed our 3rd consecutive 20 (20-7) win season, a school record. We’re losing 6 seniors, 5 of which will be playing in college next year; Aleiah Brandon (San Diego State University), Jasmine Flanagan (Cleveland State University), Alana Allensworth (Concordia University), Ashley Whisler (Santa Ana College), and LaKenya Love (undecided). These players are continuing the great tradition of Centennial Basketball by continuing their basketball careers at the collegiate level. They are following in the footsteps of former Lady Husky players that have played under Coach Woods- Brianna Garcia (’11) is at Riverside Community College, Michelle Sutton (’11) is at Texas A&M Commerce, Tyler Woods (’11) is Santa Clara University, and Kelsey Beard (’10), who is at UC Davis.
Although we lost some great young women this year, we return 3 starters- seniors, Samantha Logan and Ashley Merrill (already committed to the University of Arizona), and junior Jon’Nae Vermillion. Junior’s Ahliyah Chambers, Aerielle Muldrow, Alysia Gamboa, Amia Thrash, and sophomore Danielle Muldrow round out the returning squad.
With what we have returning and combining that with the off-season development that we do, emphasis on academics, as well as with the relationships that have been built over the years between college coaches and Coach Woods, the tradition of players moving on to play college basketball will continue. We’re also very excited about our younger players on our lower-level teams. They had great seasons respectively and are continuing to work hard and are developing every day and they will soon join those that are being recruited. We’re very excited about the direction of our program and we look forward to great things this off-season as well as next season.
Excitedly yours,
Coach Martin Woods

On behalf of all the players and coaches, I would like to say CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Kelsey Beard on signing her National Letter of Intent to attend UC Davis next fall. This goes to show that hard work, committment, and dedication pays off. I'm very proud of Kelsey and excited for her and her family for this awesome opportunity. Way to go Big Head!
Proudly yours, Coach Woods
