Hope everyone is having a great summer! Booster mails will be less regular over the summer and only sent as needed in order to pass on important information or keep everyone updated. There are a number of very important things this week however.
First, I want to congratulate Chance Schilhab and our Cedar Creek Baseball coaches, Coach John Moore and Asst. Coach Josh Thomas, for being chosen to participate in the North-South All-Star game at the Dell Diamond on Monday, June 9th! As District MVP, Chance was a top choice at Outfield, starting in center field, and had a great game. Coach Moore was nominated by coaches in the Austin area and led his South team to a 12-3 win over the North. With strong pitching, solid defense and 14 hits, Coach Moore's South Team dominated. Congratulations to Chance and our coaches for being chosen for such an honor, and thank you for representing the Cedar Creek Eagles so well at the All-Star game!
If you were not able to make it last week to Strength and Conditioning (SAC) camp, it's not too late to come out this week. At the end of each day, the coaches remind our athletes that right now is where the winning begins, and they ask each one to call a friend and get them out to SAC camp. It's never too late to start and don't let money be an object as arrangements can be worked out. Your coaches strongly encourage their attendance.
**Sponsor packets are going out by mail today and are the initial step for football program ads and other sponsorships for the upcoming year. If you are a current sponsor, please be looking for your mailing. We'd like to have them returned as soon as possible. It's a big job to gather ads, forms, money and all that goes into the football program. Early preparations help a great deal so we're not scrambling in August. If you know of any business that might be interested in being a CCHS sponsor, let me know so that we can send them a packet. Or, if you would like to do a personal ad for your child, please let me know so that I can forward a form to you.
Cedar Creek is co-host of a BISD volleyball tournament on Aug. 21-23. We are currently planning for coaches bags, and if you have a business that would like to donate a koozie, pen, pencil or other company branded item, let me know. Or, if you'd just like to donate granola bars, packs of gum or other snack items, those are enjoyed by coaches as well. We have 20 teams/coaches, so it's only an investment of 20 items. Let me know if you would like to donate!
On June 10th, we did our annual concession cleaning, and it looks great! We have a big need however for help with our large outdoor gas grill. It is badly in need of reinforcement to make more sturdy AND a good cleaning. If we have any dads willing to take on this project, please get in touch with me.
Don't forget to renew memberships (form attached). If you need to be removed due to no students in CCHS, please reply back and let me know. If you want to remain on our membership list, please take the opportunity this month to renew your membership.
Have a great summer, but don't forget those summer workouts~ :)
Lori B. Tuggle,
A yearly physical exam will now be required in order for your child to participate in BISD Athletics. This physical will be valid for one school year. If your child has a doctor, it is very important for your child to visit his/her own doctor for this examination, because the doctor knows your child and their medical history. This is especially important if your child has any prior medical conditions or is under a doctor’s care for any medical conditions including asthma. If your child does not have a doctor, you should first find a doctor and then make an appointment with this doctor’s office or clinic. It is best to have this appointment between May 1, 2014 and August 1, 2014. Monday May 19, 2014 from 7:00am to 12:30pm a group of doctors have offered to perform sports physicals in large sessions for only $25. The physicals will be stationed based where they will get their height, weight, vision, and blood pressure checked before they see the doctor. CCHS Athletics will provide bus transportation to the physical site from CCMS and CCI.
If your child is going to participate in this years physical exams at CCHS, we need the following:
• Completed physical packet, including parent and student signatures, athlete contact information, and medical history
• Permission Slip signed by the parent/guardian allowing son/daughter to participate and travel to CCHS for physicals (for CCMS/CCI only)
• $25 cash or check (pay to the order of Dr. Jamee Garner)
Physical Packets and Parent letter/Permission slip have already been distributed to all CCI 6th graders interested in playing sports and to all CCMS and CCHS Athletes. If you have any questions regarding the physicals, please contact Benjamin Perez or Rachel Mahoney at the athletic training room office at 512-772-7300 or via email to email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
UIL Medical Forms/Physical Paperwork
All athletes need to have all five UIL Medical Forms below in order to participate in Athletics. Please print, read, complete it, and sign it. Student Athlete will not be cleared to participate unless all forms are completed and signed by both the student athlete and parent/guardian and turned in to the Athletic Trainers. Please be aware that any "Yes" answer to questions 1,2,3,4,5, or 6 on the Medical History of physical will require further medical evaluation. Please discuss Medical History very thorough with the Doctor performing the physical examination.
