Carlisle high school 9-24-09- The Central Dauphin Rams started off the night very slow before coming to life to gain an important road victory at Carlisle last night in the mid penn commonwealth division. CD won games 2 and 3, then dropped game 4 to set up a big showdown in game 5.
The Rams lost the first point 0-1 before going on a big run behind the solid play of the back line. Melissa Dorsey (Sr, DS) and Regina Kimmel (Jr, L) really brought their best when the Rams needed it the most. Before the Rams knew it they were out to a 9-3 lead and never looked back. Dorsey scored the game winner from the front row with a big left handed kill to close out game 5, 15-4.
"This was our first W down here in a long time" said Coach JB. "The girls really fired up the offense behind Allie Donahue (So, S). She set a perfect match after the first game".
Erin McNamara (Jr, OH) had her career match last night as she lead the team with 12 kills and 3 aces. Erin also had several steady defensive plays to help the Rams efforts. Krysta Hetzel (Jr, MB) continues to improve with each match as she chipped in 4 timely blocks to slow down the Herd O.
The Rams won at Carlisle for the first time in 9 years and it pulled the Rams into a three way tie for 2nd with the Herd and Chambersburg. "2nd is our goal for the season, with CV out in front for 1st, 2nd is a big prize for playoff seeding" said Coach JB. "Plus we want to improve from last year when we finished third so tonight's win was huge for us".
The Ram jv squad fell in two to the Herd.
The Ram jv squad returns to action on Saturday at the Pine Grove JV tournament.
