Cedar Cliff High School Tuesday Sept 8th- The Central Dauphin Rams were ready to sweat it out last night in the Colt's ever hot gym but luckly it wasn't too hot for the Rams as CD came away with a big three game sweep to open the 2009 season (20, 20, 17). CD rolled out to big leads in first two games behind some beautiful serving only to see the Colts close the score with some big service runs themselves. "They were bombing the ball behind the line and it really hurt us" said Coach JB after the match. "However once we made some minor adjustments we were able to limit the damage and really start to run a nice offense in the middle of the match".
The Rams pulled out game one after being up 7-1 to start the match. Game two was much of the same with the Rams taking a lead, the Colts coming close, and the Rams finding the final points. Game three was much closer, infact the score was tied at 15-15 before Erin McNamara (Jr, OPP) went back to serve. Nine straight points later with 3 aces from McNamara in hand, the match was all but over with CD coming out on top.
The Rams were lead by April Brown (So, OH) who had 8 kills and two timely blocks vs. the Colts. Regina Kimmel (Jr, L) had a solid night passing and playing D. "Regina was caught out of positioin once at the start of the match, once she moved in to cover the tip not one more Colt dink hit the floor the rest of the night" said Coach JB. Krysta Hetzel (Jr, MB) also chipped in 7 kills for the Rams.
The Ram JV squad won Coach Ishler's debut as a Ram coach 2-1 over the Colts.
CD returns to action on Thursday as the Chambersburg Trojans travel up route 81 to meet the Rams in a Mid Penn Commonwealth clash. The home opener starts at 6 for the JVs, see you there.
