2016/2017 Season Registration

Welcome to the Central Dauphin Area Basketball Association, an organization proudly celebrating its 32nd year of youth basketball!
The Central Dauphin Area Basketball Association is a registered non-profit organization devoted to providing a basketball program open to all students residing within the Central Dauphin School District boundaries who are Kindergarten thru 12th grade. PIAA officials are used for all 3rd-12th grade games.
Evaluation Information
Welcome to the 2016/2017 season of the Central Dauphin Area Basketball Association. The registration period has ended and we are now ready to begin the process of selecting teams and beginning practices. If your son/daughter cannot attend their scheduled time, please let us know ASAP and they will have to attend the supplemental evaluation.
Each division has a designated time for evaluations at Linglestown Middle School:
Boys 3rd/4th Monday October 24 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Girls 3rd/4th/5h Tuesday October 25 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Boys 5th/6th Wednesday October 26 6:30pm to 7:30pm
Boys 7/8 and Boys 9/12 will have evaluations after school teams are picked. This should happen some time around Thanksgiving.
Skillbuilder sessions will start in early November - more info to follow.
We recommend each player arrive 15-20 minutes early to give them time to check in and warm up. Have your player be prepared to play basketball wearing gym shorts, t-shirt and basketball shoes (no black soled shoes.) They will be asked to perform some basic basketball skills, dribbling, shooting free throws and lay-ups and scrimmaging with the other players. The evaluations may end early if the coaches have had sufficient time to grade each player. Please do not bring your own basketballs, we will have some to warm up with and use.
The purpose of the evaluation is to allow the coaches to access the skill level of all participants. After the evaluation the coaches will draft their teams. The goal of our league is to have evenly matched teams so each game can be competitive.
Following the draft your son or daughter’s coach should contact you in a couple of days regarding practice times. The coaches schedule their own practice times and they try to accommodate the players and their families as much as possible. Your team may practice once or twice per week until the season start and usually once per week afterwards. The first games will be scheduled for mid November.
The evaluation process is very hectic for those running it, which are primarily the CDABA board and other volunteers. You are welcome to watch the evaluations but please keep distractions to a minimum. Do not ‘coach’ your child from the sidelines and keep any siblings close at hand. Please refrain from asking for carpool and coaching requests. We do not honor these and prefer to allow the draft to flow unencumbered.
When your child's evaluation is over, please plan on leaving the school immediately. We will either have another session coming in or will be preparing for a draft. Also, remember that no food or drink is allowed in the school. We are visitors and must follow all their rules.
Thanks again for selecting the CDABA and we hope this season will be enjoyable for you and your child.
Any questions you may have, please email the league at cdababb@gmail.com.
The Latest News
  • The revised CDABA ByLaws, including the amendments approved by the general membership at the meeting on March 10, 2016, have been posted on the Doc & Forms page of this web site.
  • There has been some confusion regarding the mercy rule that was implemented in the CDABA this season.  The CDABA Executive Board and Director of Operations met on January 17th to discuss and clarify the rule.  Here is the revised wording:  "2.d. Mercy Rule: If at any point in the final 2 minutes of the second half a team leads by 20 points or more, the remainder of the second half will have a running clock. The only clock stoppage will be for time outs or injuries."
  • The next CDABA Executive Board meeting is scheduled for TBD at Charlton United Methodist Church.
  • All practices and games must have a door watcher.  This season has been going very well and we appreciate everyone's efforts.  Please continue to sign up to watch the door for your team here:  www.timetosignup.com/cdaba/folder/444
  • Please remember that no food or drinks are allowed in any of the gyms we use. Players may only bring water to drink, no Gatorade. Reusable water bottles are the best so there is no trash left behind.
