Central Dauphin Area Basketball Association: Welcome

2015/2016 Season Registration

Welcome to the Central Dauphin Area Basketball Association, an organization proudly celebrating its 31st year of youth basketball! The Central Dauphin Area Basketball Association is a registered non-profit organization devoted to providing a basketball program open to all students residing within the Central Dauphin School District boundaries who are Kindergarten thru 12th grade. PIAA officials are used for all 3rd-12th grade games.
The Central Dauphin School District is dismissing early today (2/9).
All CDABA practices, games and Skill Builder sessions are cancelled.
Makeup dates for the B78 games will be determined and shared ASAP.
The Nominating Committee is preparing a list of candidates for the 2016-17 CDABA Executive Board. The general membership will elect the board at the annual meeting and pizza party at Central Dauphin High School on March 10, 2016. The elected candidates will serve as board members from June 1, 2016, through May 31, 2017, with the exception of the treasurer, who will be elected for a two-year term. The committee is particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have an interest in becoming the president or the secretary of the board. The CDABA Bylaws describe the duties and responsibilities of the officers as well as the at-large members. If you have an interest in becoming a candidate for any position or would like to know more about serving on the board, please send an inquiry to cdababb@gmail.com before January 31. The committee's list of candidates will be announced in February.
The Latest News
  • There has been some confusion regarding the mercy rule that was implemented in the CDABA this season.  The CDABA Executive Board and Director of Operations met on January 17th to discuss and clarify the rule.  Here is the revised wording:  "2.d. Mercy Rule: If at any point in the final 2 minutes of the second half a team leads by 20 points or more, the remainder of the second half will have a running clock. The only clock stoppage will be for time outs or injuries."
  • PROPOSED AMENDMENTS to CDABA BYLAWS in 2016:  The CDABA is required to update its bylaws, which were originally adopted in March 2006 and were last amended in November 2011, at least once every five years. The CDABA Executive Board will be asking the general membership to approve proposed amendments to the Association Bylaws at the annual meeting and pizza party in Central Dauphin High School on March 10, 2016.  The proposed amendments can be found under "Doc & Forms" on the left side of this web site.  See the file "Bylaws Amendment Proposal (Jan 2016)".
  • Playoff brackets have been added to the website. Championship Sunday will be March 13 at Central Dauphin High School. If we lose games this weekend, the playoff brackets may be moved around so we can finish the regular season.
  • The Timetosignup for door watching has been updated to include all games and practices in the month of February. Please continue to help your team by volunteering to watch the door. There are currently over 25 games and practices not covered this week. Teams will lose the ability to practice for 7 days if no one is signed up online.
  • For those of you who have watched the door at least two times so far, your $20 Volunteer Fee will be returned to you over next few weeks. When you see Todd at a game or practice, you will be given $20 cash and you will need to sign a paper stating you received it. Emails will be sent each week stating the times and places Todd will be available each weekend. If you don't know who he is, please ask the Game Manager behind the scorer's table.
  • The next CDABA Executive Board meeting is scheduled for Sunday, February 21st, 2016 at Charlton United Methodist Church.
  • All practices and games must have a door watcher.  This season has been going very well and we appreciate everyone's efforts.  Please continue to sign up to watch the door for your team here:  www.timetosignup.com/cdaba/folder/444
  • Please remember that no food or drinks are allowed in any of the gyms we use. Players may only bring water to drink, no Gatorade. Reusable water bottles are the best so there is no trash left behind.
