History:  The Havelock Officials Association started out in 1955 as  a small group of officials serving MCAS Cherry Point in the intramural sports programs.  Names of some of the founders are: T. C. Bass, James Dargan, Bill Kane, John Kandes, Cliff Lynch, Lou Realini and Clarence Tipton. These individuals officiated Football ($4.50 per game), Basketball ( $3.00 per game), Softball ($2.50 per game) and Volleyball ($2.50 per game). Over the years the association expanded to Craven, Pamlico, Carteret and Jones Counties. In 1988 membership voted to change the name to Crystal Coast Officials Association and we currently have 90 plus officials carried on the roster.

Purpose:  To unite officials for study and improvement in the techniques  of officiating, to establish and maintain the highest ideals in the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship, and to train and provide adequate number of qualified  and certified officials for middle schools, youth leagues, private high school academies, adult men's and women's leagues on base  and in the outlying communities.

 Thanks for your interest...
